I have the same problem, but all I've been able to find is this:

    http://www.tfarchive.com/toys/reviews/g1_blaster.php

However, it's rather vaguie and didn't help me much, but maybe it will help you. This is the part I'm referring to:
"When I got my Blaster from EBay the cassette door did not open. A little work with a screwdriver and this problem was fixed, so don't let a non-opening door stop you from picking up Blaster if the price is right."

Hold the eject button down and pry it open. If you're lucky, you won't break the little tab that holds it shut.

Only other way is to take him apart.

My vintage Blaster didn't have a working tape door either. When I took him apart, one of his black plastic things was inside backwards. I just flipped it over and he worked fine. It looked like a factory assembly error.

Blaster is pretty easy to take apart. That's the safest way to fix him really.

I agree, you have to take him apart. Otherwise you will stress and maybe break the plastic hook that keeps the door shut. If you need more information PM me. I've fixed plenty of them.

I had the same non-opening door problem with mine. I took him apart and used some dry graphite lubricant on the plastic parts that slide past one another. That helped to keep things running more smoothly...apparently some of those sliding plastic parts were sticking a bit.

May I suggest that you post that in this thread instead of sending a PM? I'm sure that many people (including myself) would love to know how to fix him :)

How hard is it to take some screws out and see what's in there? Go for it!

If I had one, I'd take him apart and take pics myself. It can't be that difficult, just make sure to open his chest carefully so springs don't go flying.
