Sorry to have to post this question here, but it was from selling a transformer on ebay...

So I just want to refund someone $3 from having overcharged for shipping a bit. How do I do this? I went to paypal and found the 'refund' within 60 days option, but I'm scared that if I press that it might refund everything.

    Some help?

    Thanks as always TF2005 members!

What MMM said. And if you really want to refund them a full $3, then give them that and the Paypal fees (2.9% of total + $0.30 fixed + another 1% of the original total if they are international).

No, that's not the way to do it. You go to transaction details and there's a link for refunds. You enter the amount you want to refund, can be full or partial and fees for the initial payment will be readjusted automatically.

What difference does it makes if it works and everybody's happy? Does it avoid fees to do it that way?

I suppose it would make a difference if the initial payment hasn't already been made.

Yes, it does avoid fees that way (though I've never had to do a partial refund, only a full one once since the buyer wanted more and I wanted to avoid additional fees from the additional payment).

Well, good to know! Never given refunds, never had to yet. Here's hoping I never do!
