I was transforming him into a car while walking to my room and I hit my foot on a chair leg. That made me drop him from the pain and somehow it snapped in half on the floor tiles.

Ouch. That kind of break is a tough one to fix.
I'm afraid I can't offer any advice in this situation, beyond selling this guy for parts and getting a new Sideswipe with the money.

Protip: You can see his pictures by quoting him and following the url's, that didn't work for whatever reason.

Your pics are broken. I need to see the pictures of the damage before I can tell you how to fix it. :p  Although, Brainchilds suggestion isn't bad. I'm sure there are some radicons here that will welcome such things as this to scrap for parts.

Judging by the pics it doesn't seem like you can really fix it aside from scratch building your own stuff. Because that part is where a lot of movement is, super glue isn't going to really work as it doesn't have a lot of strength when it comes to high stress areas like that. You also run the risk of gluing the rod against the part which will prevent movement.

As Brainchild said, I suppose your only option is really to try to sell the parts and use those funds to get a new one.

Do you still have the small plastic parts that also broke off?

Just saw the pics. Ouch. Yeah, he failed the drop test alright.

If you write Hasbro about it, they'll send their typical form letter response with a mailing label asking you to return the figure and they'll send a replacement. The thing is, if the same figure isn't available they'll send you an equivalent. So, one option would be to take this route and order yourself another HA Sideswipe from somewhere, then in a month or two you'll get a package from Hasbro with possibly a different HA figure or multiple figure equating to the same value (their choice, unfortunately).

Maybe not that great of a solution, but it's an idea.

Or you could try gluing the pieces together.

Sad thing is that I have only ONE piece. I only found that piece because it was lying next to it and the other pieces..... Lord knows what happened to them :/

LOL! You know what, we should suggest to Hasbro to make drop tests to make sure a 4 feet drop onto a kitchen tile wouldn't snap their product in half XP

Human Alliance Sideswipe is my first transformer since Transformers Armada. So this toy brought a moment of my childhood back when I bought it and I was pretty happy............... even though the cashier was giving me the evil eye I was still pretty happy about buying a transformer :D  Now what I'm hearing is that I have a 50% chance to get the same HA Sideswipe, the other 50% is getting a transformer that could have poor pose ability, easily breakable, or simply funky looking. Is there any other way I could trade the transformer in but expect to get HA Sideswipe without getting a random transformer to replace it with if they don't have HA Sideswipe? (Sorry if it's confusing, I'll revise it if you need me to.)

You may be able to find another HA Sideswipe at your local thrift or bargain stores...check places like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ollie's, Big Lots.

You may be able to find the black version of Sideswipe ("Shadow Blade" Sideswipe) on clearance - check Target or Wal-Mart. (If you get one on clearance, you could paint it silver, or get someone in Radicons who does commissions to do it for you. It would probably look better than the original. Those guys can PAINT.)

Toys 'R' Us may also be helpful. Or eBay. Or the sales board here. Or we may see another repaint or remold of Sideswipe in Human Alliance in the DotM toyline.

If you don't want to sell your broken Sideswipe for parts or send it to Hasbro, maybe you could fix it in car mode - i.e. glue it in such a way that it stays together but won't transform anymore.

(Truth be told, car mode is probably the best thing about HA Sideswipe. Hasbro still hasn't quite figured out how to do Sideswipe justice, IMO.)

No doubt this sucks - I hate breaking toys or losing parts (my cat ran off with one of Seaspray's missiles and I still can't find it..), but you have options.

No guarantees if you send it back to Hasbro. I bought a ROTF Soundwave that had the wrong shoulder piece and couldn't transform. I sent Hasbro an e-mail with photos showing the assembly error and got their form letter in response. I sent in the defective toy and after about a month or so got a letter stating that the figure I had sent was no longer available and they'd be sending me a different figure. In the meantime, I found another Soundwave in a store here and bought it. Ended up getting an ROTF Swerve out of the whole thing.

If you want to replace the Sideswipe you have, you might consider ordering this one. Or, maybe you could see if anyone on the boards has one they want to sell.

Sending the broken one into Hasbro will get you another figure in exchange, there's just no telling what they'll send. Could be a newer HA figure, could be the black HA Sideswipe repaint, could be HA Mudflap.

I don't care what anyone says because as a man, I'm obligated to say & believe that everything is fixable, at least at first glance.

Seriously though, you might not be able to glue the existing parts back together without losing strength, but you can always try replacing the broken plastic rings or whatever with metal ones that you glue into place. If anything, that might be even better than how he was new.

Hey Ghost, another idea that might work is taking that bottom piece and finish cutting the pin holes off and find a figure you could use for parts and cut a with pin holes about the same width as the one on sideswipe, and just glue it real good then take the pin out of the top half piece slide the two pieces together and put the pin back in,and should work if you don't transform him too much.

I also suggest using 5 minute epoxy,as it seems to hold better on plastic pieces.

I think if you do this now, you'll be able to shop for a spare HA Sideswipe for cheaper than the $30 retail price tag. Spending $20 or so will be a LOT less of a headache than trying to fix that.
