    What equipment do you have?

    PC software?
    Burner?
    Recorder?

Nero is pretty user friendly since you claim to be clueless about copying a DVD someone else burned for you. I do not believe that Nero will help you get passed copy protection (not that I endorse that sort of thing) but for home made DVDs, Nero is good.

If you have a DVD-RW device (check by: right click on my computer, choose manage, then device manager, look under CD-ROM/DVD device) all you need to do is get a NERO cd/dvd burning program. Install it and use it to make a DVD copy (by choosing DVD and COPY at the program's start). Just be sure you configured the recording and reading devices correctly. If you only have a DVD-RW device, just uncheck the on-the-fly option, and choose the directory where the program will store the image file during burning.

Well, it is a dsic with personal home recording of a band so it shouldn't have any copy protection on it...
