Hello, first of all, I'd like to congratulate you all for amazing AFA collections. I just decided to plunge in and collect AFA'd items of TF G1 toys I had as a kid. I'd like to build my collection slowly. They are just a few pieces - not too much. I'm mainly a GI Joe collector.

But I would appreciate any tips or guidance on building a G1 TF AFA collection. Thank you.

Buy from reputable sellers (like me :)  ). If you're not sure about a seller's reputation, ask around.

Patience, mainly. Waiting for the item you want to turn up at a reasonable price and from someone trustworthy is a big part of the battle.

An important factor is to inspect some AFA'd G1 in person to decide which grade level will be sufficient for your collecting needs.
    Some want 80 and up.
    Some want 85 and up.
Psychotic collectors will only own 90's......good luck with that.

If box condition is important for you, an AFA-80 with a 75 box subgrade may be a very expensive disappointment.

Also, network with other AFA collectors. Mostly all the really good stuff changes hands in private sales.
