One of my closest friends just graduated high school and got into college. Thing is, though, she just turned sixteen and didn't even finish 10th grade (she moved to a different city and became home schooled). Anyone know how she could have done this?

if you meet requirements set by either the state or college, you can skip grades.

my Brother in law did so much work his 10th and 11th grade years, he only had to attend 1 class his senior year and skipped the rest of the day.

there's lots of ways to get into college early these days. AP classes. Actually taking 1-2 college classes while in high school, even taking college courses in the summer.

i would love to know how she did it exactly, but it is not impossible these days.

three letters GED some states allow student to take GED in lieu of finnishing High school. but the AP classes sound more likely.

According to the California Board of Education website, you can only take the GED test if you're over 17, and she's just barely 16 and dropped out of honors chemistry last year. So I'm gonna take Team Jetfire's answer as the closest thing I'll know.

She probably took the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE). You only have to take one semester of sophomore year or be sixteen to take it. After you take you can legally leave school (but you have to be signed out by a parent/guardian) and even attend community college if you want. It's excepted as high school diploma by law.

college as in a university or college as in junior college aka community college. The latter doesn't require a high school diploma or GED.

I can't call her ATM, she's at one end of California while I'm in the middle so we can't meet up, plus she's hardly online.

Now THIS seems more like the answer. Thanks tanDLC! How the hell do you make your DLC bronze...

    No problem :) .

The DLC part of my name looks bronze to you? It shows up black like the rest of my name for me.

    Maybe she nailed the SATs.

    Or the admissions officer.

Doesn't stop you from leaving her a message on Facebook. There's no shame in Facebook stalking, and she'll answer you when she sees it.
    Oh, you.

I'm not the stalker type, and IRL I'm kinda shy and nervous. Plus I have no idea when it's safe to call her since she has a job and college to juggle with.

She's at a community college right now. Those aren't necessary to enter one.

Well, I AM the current Admin of my unit. She was the Admin before me and I worked with her for about a year. Not much happened though

... aside from the fact that I asked her to Prom (instant yes : D but her mom said NO D: )... and we danced at the JROTC Military Ball (separate groups, but eventually we found each other in the crowded place : D)... and we would have had out first date to see the premiere of MIB3... and then she was forced to move without warning D':

Then I made the mistake of looking up Journey's "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" while I was sad.
