Alright, how did a 2009 ROTF MOVIE FIGURE become so damn expensive? I'll admit i got the guy on a whim cause he was on sale for 20 bucks at walmart, but i didnt know he would be worth this much 2-3 yrs later!!! Hell, you can get the leader prime and jetfire combo cheaper than this guy. I know this topic has been beaten to death and if there is another thread about this, mods please move this. I'm not hating on those who have been able to sell him for 200-300 bucks, i just cant wrap my mind around how he became a gold mine...

Shadow Command Megs skyrocketing in price is one thing I NEVER expected to see. The "best" available versions of the on-screen Movie cast and certain Japanese exclusives? Sure.

A random redeco with no ties to anything of a mold that wasn't popular and wasn't exactly uber-rare at the time? Huh.

It makes me regret passing on him so many times at TRU and Target. I could've picked up several and resold them later for a nice profit. It'd sure help pay off my truck faster.

 

It's freakin redonkulous what people are paying for this guy!!!!

 

IIRC distribution was kinda weird on that wave of Leaders.

 

Actually, a lot of the older largerer sized movie figures are going for shit tons of money..

 

If only the Leader Prime from movie one would hit those prices...

I can almost guarantee though, that if there had been a Leader Megatron made for DotM, and if he was decent, that the price of this guy wouldn't be near this much.

 

Damn, I recall seeing one at a K-Mart 2 years ago. Wait, this is K-Mart I'm talking about. It'll probably still be there...right behind the wall of Ultimate Primes.

 

Yes, I've still got one of those MISB. I picked it up for a project that seemed less interesting after Takara gave us the chromed version, and absolutely pointless after the ROTF mold was revealed.

 

What ticks me off is how much TFTM Premium Megatron is going for these days.

 

Yeah it was like 50% of Windcharger. Which is why it's that kind of money on Ebay.

Not really surprising though. That's the best version of movie Megatron in the leader class.

 

This is one of the many times I feel like an idiot for not buying these on clearance. My store was once flooded with HA Barricade for $15, this for $25, and more. Could have bought myself the entire TF Prime line with it, haha.

 

Gotta love how we get at least one of these threads like every month, most of which are about Shadow Commander Megs haha..

 

There's just no way to know. It's a gamble. I passed on ROTF leader prime despite having specifically saved $$ for him when they announced a third movie. I thought for sure there'd be a DOTM leader and he'd be superior

 

I actually could've gotten one of those for like $10 bucks about a year ago, and I passed....I should've, but had no money at the time.

Yup, similar - I sold my Buster Prime becuase I thought, aha! Imagine how good the inevitable Takara tweaked DOTM version of this will be!

How very, very wrong my expectations of improving quality were. Never mind.

I bought the Dual Model kit instead. It may not transform, but for accuracy and articulation, it's the clear winner.

 

lol this was discounted to 50% off at walmart last year, i almost picked one up but changed my mind at the check out line because i don't want to wait 30 minutes in line to buy a crappy toy. no regrets tho, i don't like the fundamental design of this guy, not even potential 10x return on investment would get me to buy it.

 

he hardly shipped out at wholesale, a lot of actual wholesalers cancelled their orders for him let alone toy stores so he is kinda rare hence the crazy price  

 

Secretcode had mentioned that earlier too. I guess that pretty much explains the rarity of the fig. I was going to get rid of most of my movie figs but now i just might hold onto them (mainly the leader class and Human Alliance toys)!
