You know, I'd be intrigued to see if anyone's done this myself, 'cause I've just taken my Lockdown's arm apart as much as possible (undid the screw at the elbow, basically), and realised that the pin that hinges the wrist is only accessible from one side, which stops you from knocking it out.

I ran into the same problem with the one sided pins as well. you really don't need to take him that far apart to do the hand mod or repaint him at all.
I asked Dak about this at TFcon & the only thing he could think of, would be to drill a small hole slightly bigger then the pin on the side that is covered and then see which way to pin need to be knocked out.
I will say this if LD is anything like Ani BB's stinger I would be VERY careful not to snap the plastic by hitting the pin too hard.

I heard heating a knife or screwdriver makes it easier to cut through the plastic, but I haven't tried that

I have heard of people using an exacto knife/razor knife/box cutter to do the deed...

If you got a Dremel tool with some fine bits, you could use that too.

I hardly have steady hands, wouldn't it be a risk to any surounding plastic?

Hmm,in that case, does anyone know if there's a video tutorial? I'm not fully confident relying on before and after pics.

I felt the same way about doing this mod, to be sure I would honestly suggest using the hand you usually put the hook on. as said earlier on, just take your time.

I mirror what everyone else has said so far.
It really is a simple mod, almost idiot proof.
An exacto knife & 5 mins of time is all you really need.
Just shave away at the grey plastic till it's the way you want it.
I've done 4 LD's now, I could probably do the mod in my sleep.

I tried and failed. wow, idiot proof you say? self esteem just went below zero :-D lol.

EDIT: after a full day of cutting, the hand can now sorta flip out but much of the surounding plastic is damaged. So i definately need to see someone else do it,is there a video out there?
