Between the 2, which one would you pick : the original SDF-1 or the Hovertank? How's the Hovertank like, I can't find any reviews for it.

When you say "hover tank", do you mean from Dimensional Calvary Southern Cross?

If it's similar to the one I got when they released a bunch of Robotech stuff in the Exo-Squad line it's pretty cool...nice and big with a cool gun that acts as a turret in hovertank mode, and also as a handgun. I don't know what the SDF-1 is like unfortunately.

Does the Hovertank actually transform a bit?

SDF-1 over the Hovertank everytime. The Robotech SDF-1 is based on the Takatoku one but without the firing valkyries. The Hovertank is a nice big piece but like someone else said it doesn't transform into....a tank. LAME! Looks best in Battloid because in guardian you'd need a pilot figure for it to look right.

Both are great toys but I like my SDF-1 alot more.
Hovertank is a great bot but it would be really nice if it had the tank mode. It is cool how you can use it with the robotech figures though.

So it had a proper tank mode in the show?

For it's size, there's a general lack of detailing in the toy, and the transformation is rather straight forward. Plastic quality is decent though. It's not a bad toy, but overall it's fairly unremarkable. The lack of a proper Hovertank mode is quite a negative, and IIRC, (been a longtime since i had mine) the Battroid mode has some stability problems.

Yeah, the white backpack section can flop forward.

Personally I'd go with the SDF-1. Although I only have the hovertank, and it is a very cool piece, the SDF-1 is an awesome monolith of a battlestation.

I never own the SDF One but I can tell you the Hover tank is awesome. It's huge. Wish I didn't sale mines. :(  Looks awesome with Dana Sterling.

Well, I was bidding on one, but it sold for $76. I'll try to get a SDF-1 instead.

An SDF-1 will probably cost you more than $76

I couldn't get Razerwire's pic to show, but again if it's like the one I have you can sort of make a hover tank mode out of it. Not exactly perfect, but it's not only the gerwalk mode either. I'll have to look around for pics of the SDF-1. Macross/ Robotech stuff has always interested me.

I'd say Hover Tank just because Southern Cross doesn't get enough love.
