Whole article at Transformers comic books explore politics, gender, romance
Sweet, on the front page of CBC Entertainment, right under... WAIT DOCTOR WHO'S A GIRL NOW????
Glowing review,, oh wait sorry the book's cancelled!
To be honest this thread title to me reads like:
"Several Transformer comics which i know have devolved into self indulgent shit are rated as high by someone who rates himself highly as some show i don't care about because i am confident it's the same selfindulgent shit as almost all other fiction i've watched in my life. "
Woah that's kind of hostile and unclear if it's directed towards here or the article.
It's not intended as hostile. Just commenting on the article.
The wording is weird on the article and full of buzzwords, but it's good that IDW Transformers is getting good publicity outside Combiner Wars and Bayformers. Plus the article is generally heartwarming to showcase that there are still people who might like Transformers outside the movies.
That is certainly true. We need more fans. Online stores out here are packed with stuff that doesn't sell.
I had hoped TLK would have brought in more nostalgics but the engine seems to be buckling.
I am not happy with IDW, but i agree it's a good thing if this article can attract new readers.
Its funny that people talk about the movies and the shows but these comics never appear on the radar. It's like when a good thing just passes by unnoticed and people think Bayformers is the only thing about the franchise.
Whenever I've been on panels at comic cons (often discussing comic critiquing or LGBT+ issues), I always recommend the IDW books with this line: "Take the Michael Bay movies, then reverse absolutely everything."
I think it may be partly the case of live-action shared universes being a big deal right now, so that's where the focus of the general audience lies. MCU is on the rise, but their comics aren't doing that much better. What I do find annoying, however, is when people state that Bay is ruining the Transformers while at the same time we have IDW comics and cartoons going on. In this case isn't it the case of you assigning more value to one branch of the franchise over the others? If we did treat the comics as the main continuity we would not have the problem of poor representation many people are bemoaning.
Well TLK was fun and Starscream was dead in it and only appeared for about five seconds, so yes that asessement seems to be accurate for the most part
