If you'll recall, in More Than Meets The Eye it was Hound that was Spike's bestest buddy. It even made a weird kind of sense, since Hound connotes a dog. Yet, in the first episode of the regular season, all that switched to Bumblebee for some reason. It was Bumblebee that was sent out to locate the Decepticons, not Hound. Wtf? Isn't that Hound's specialty?

Anyway, if they had continued the relationship from MTMTE throughout the series, Hound would still be alive in The Movie, he would've been featured in the current film, and likewise he would probably be in Animated. He might have had a Pretender and an Action Master figure as well. The most mind boggling thing is, Hound cost about 4x more than Bumblebee in retail. Wouldn't you rather promote the more expensive toy than the cheaper one?

True, but Bumblebee is probably a more popular character than Hound. Just a guess.

Hound got beat by freaking RUMBLE at Sherman Dam. Spike stopped returning his calls after that ownage. I wouldn't hang with him either after that.

You know, I always have wondered why Hound and Spike's friendship never did move past MTMTE. It was odd how they did work to build up that relationship only to end it without any explanation.

Well for starters half of Season 1 cant make up its mind on alot of issues. Flying Autobots, half alt modes, etc.

So it doesnt seem to hold much water. About as much as Hound got stuck in him after Rumble trashed him at Sherman Dam.

Maybe they just decided the little cheap volkswagen was a better push than the expensive drab military vehicle? I guess the "cute young one" personality was deemed important to focus on too. Who knows exactly what specifics went on with that decision though. It definitely would have been nice if Hound and tons of others had been treated more fairly in the cartoon though, absolutely.

Oh well, at least he got a nice Alternator. Maybe one day he'll get another push.

OR it could be that Hound was a Military styled vehicle with a Gun-like object in the back in a kid's cartoon. Jeeze maybe somebody complained so they went with the peacenik VW instead.

Easy: Bumblebee has cute "chubby cheeks" look to him, is small, and "cutesy" alt-mode. Very kid-friendly. kids remember things they identify with very fast. That's why Seseme street is 90000000 years old. Same applies to TF. Kids identify with two bots: Bumblebee as them, and Prime as "Dad" (compassionate leader who has all the answers).

It was because Hound is a heavy marijuana user, as evidenced by the Alternator.

Hound was always a favorite of mine. The G1 toy is just awesome. The Alternator is awesome. His hologram ability is awesome.

Mirage was also a favorite along with Sideswipe and Sunstreaker.

Never was a fan of Trailbreaker, Ironhide, Ratchet, Inferno, Bumblebee, and Cliffjumper.

I love all the early guys. I guess it's the nostalgia, or maybe just that magic charm that made so many of us fall in love with it.

C'mon, we've all seen the footage of what happened with Hound and Spike at Sherman Dam. It's was just too "weird" for them to hang out afterwards...

I think when Hound was rubbing/pushing water out of Spike's back, he secretly wanted to rub/push something else.

Hound & Spike still hung out once in a while. It was them, afterall, who went to the museum and scanned the dinosaur skeletons that Ratchet & Wheeljack ultimately used for The Dinobots :)

Hehe, and who knows, maybe the novelty wore off for some of the Autobots wanting to hang out with a human kid who they always had to look out for, rescue, protect, etc.
