Am I the only one who actually really likes tis HotRod? I think he was very entertaining in the few scenes he actually spoke in.

 

I didn't really find anything I didn't like about him to be fair.

A little reunion between him and Bee wouldn't have been bad either -_-*

 

He's very difficult.

 

Well, he did better things than any other G1 Hot Rod has done.
But he isn't that important (the movie one)

 

In the french version, Hot rod is awful :/
He has a very odd italian accent... And you cant understand him. So, he doesnt speak :/

But in the original version, he's cool  

 

It's just seems really random of him to have that time gun, it's only purpose was to be a deus ex machina for the finale.

 

I don't think people hate the character himself but rather how unfamiliar he is to G1.

What did his gun do in the finale battle other than to stop Megatron for a few seconds though? I don't think the gun contributed that much to the plot (I don't think helping Autobots escape from the castle in the middle of the film counts when it could have easily been written differently). It was just a neat feature. I think it was rather cool, Transformers should have more weapons like that instead of guns that just shoots bullets or lasers.

 

Overall, disappointed since he just ended up being a "name slap" in the end.
Just like Arcee from ROTF they didn't really do the character justice and shouldn't have used the name at all.
The accent was really unnecessary since it didn't really add anything to the character. Seem like it was there just for the Uut Rod joke.
The time stop ability was cool to look at, but he didn't have to shout 'stop the time' everytime he used it though. Except for his ability he didn't really stand out from the rest of the bots.
Enzo 2.0 in a sense.

Might be reaching, but it could a nod to time slowing down when Hot Rod grabbed the Matrix from the 86 movies. Then again could be just random idea from Bay.

 

I don't hate him, he's just kinda bland. Not really Hot Rod-y.

 

I found him pleasant and fun. He was really polite and kind, which is different from these new trilogy Autobots.

 

I think he's very charming and adorable. I don't have any strong feelings toward the accent, but I did find his repeated "Stop ze time!" quips to be kinda cute in a really cheesy way. I liked that he congratulated Sqweeks and had the presence of mind to move him out of danger after he blew up the gun emplacement; that's like bare bones stuff in other movies but for this franchise, that's as good as it gets.

 

I liked Hot Rod, I thought he was a decent character.

 

Well there was the fact that hadn't Hot Rod used his time stop gun, Optimus wouldn't have been able to successfully catch Cade and Vivian which would have resulted in the two falling to their death.

Anyways, I very much enjoyed Hot Rod in the movie. I grew use to his French accent and I enjoyed seeing him on screen. I was disappointed though that he didn't get as much screentime as I would have liked.

 

He's fine....
I mean you don't need the French accent which is just there for a joke. But that joke didn't bother me but you still didn't need it.

Once again, he's fine. Although the time gun was kind of cool.

 

I don't really remember the final battle that much but I'd say that they could still have made that scene work by writing it differently (without the time gun). So I'd still say his gun is just a neat feature that doesn't really contribute much to the plot.

 

So.. People hate TLK Hot Rod for not being like G1 Hot Rod..

One of THE most hated characters from the cartoon, second only to maybe Wheelie and Blurr?

This thread just made me realize something. Why didn't Hot Rod ride on the Sub with Bee? Where did he even go? I remember a scene with both Bee and Hot Rod driving after Hot Rod diverted the cops and then the following scene was Cade and Vivian at the Sub.

Anyway I like Hot Rod and his voice. Nothing outstanding about him though.

 

This is how I describe Hot Rod now.

He's Vivane's Petite Chou-Fleur

 

I like his voice. Hated it when the first clip arrived,but now when Omar Sy is voicing him, its a whole other level.
