I saw this preview before The Simpsons Movie tonight. What an awesome idea - CGI'ing Suess films. I like. Great success to Kazakhstan.

Here's the wiki link, which has more information than my drunk ass could type:

Jim Carrey plays a bloated elephant! Awesome!

Honestly, I think it's a great idea. Dr. Suess characters updated in CGI, to me, is full of win. I hope we see some CGI star-bellied sneeches.

The Grinch was far from good. All I can see from this is abunch of kids getting stoned and going for a laugh.

Yeah, but The Grinch was live-action. The point I made in the source post was that using CGI to breathe life into Suess films seems like a really neat idea.

What if it's as terrifying as the 60's animations? D:

Only Chuck Jones should be allowed to do Dr Seuss.

If you watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas and mute the songs, it's incredible.

You don't like the songs? I think it's incredible through and through.

But this Horton idea is bad. I don't think the story can support a full-length movie- so they're going to invent new stuff that isn't quite in the spirit of the original.

QFT, that was my first thought.

Well, the Seuss animations were trippy enough back when they came out, seeing them done in CG... it won't have the same charm that say Chuck Jones's style brought to the Seuss animations (The Grinch, prime example), but maybe there'll be something of merit.

I'm hoping that the movie is better than the teaser, because the teaser left me feeling like I'd rather see the CGI Chipmunks movie.

I have mixed emotions about it. On the one hand, I'm grateful that they've figured out that live action Suess movies are an awful idea. CGI is an infinitely better choice.

Unfortunately, the teaser trailer had little of the charm, humor, or zaniness of the original book and animated special.

I think they're heading in the right direction, but I'm not sure if they've nailed it yet.
