According to this report there is still hope for G1 DVDs from Sony.

Nothing has been announced at all. But at least the possibility is there.

Now that they legally can again, it's gonna come down to how well the movie does. If it stirs up enough nostalgia to warrant a release, we'll get it.

Cool. At least there's some hope.

Now, whatever happened to that rumour regarding Beast Wars/Machines DVDs? Something about them being remarketed or possibly rereleased?

There may be SOME hope, but with Sony BGM being closed down one has to wonder if Sony itself even wants to deal with it. It's not like the release of the animated movie was a dismal failure.

Not that anyone cares, but walmart now has re-releases of the Armada DVDs - the ones that had about 4 episodes per disc. They have new (yet worse) cover art too now.

They'd be stupid not to. The movie has broken records!
They are at the perfect time to have the entire series out and still have enough hype to sell it.

Heck, I just went to ToysRus last night and met 3 fathers and their sons. The fathers were all buying their sons new movie toys and were talking about the old cartoon and BOTH movies. They were very focused about getting their sons into Transformers. They then discussed what toys they still had. One guy had a Soundwave, another Megatron. The third man sold all of his on eBay. They all seemed pretty psyched for the new film.

I only see good things to come for our beloved Transformers brand. That is, unless the new animated series bombs...then we have a problem.
