I really do like Welker but there is nothing wrong with Weaving. If anything David Kaye should have been Megatron long before Welker was even considered because he has voiced him for hell of a lot longer than Welker, and in my opinion has done it better. I however am glad in the choice they made and he is a good actor and has a cool voice. IT IS JUST A MOVIE! I could see being angry if it Fran Drescher was Megatron but she is not. We are lucky we got a movie, Cullen, and the fact that the robots speak at all.

 

Has this been officially announced yet?

 

Yeah, that's what I was doing, taking the piss, as wel call it.

 

While I would have prefered Welker, if just for Nostalgic purposes, I can live with Weaving.

That said, calling out Weaving because he did Agent Smith/V is about as stupid as calling out Welker for doing Freddy would be. (And it makes me want to see what Freddy's head grafted onto Megatron would look like.  )

 

I really wish the internet was around for the original 1986 film.

"Spock?! SPOCK is Megatron?! And why are they changing his look AND his name! This is a travesty! He's not Megatron, he's just some big purple doofus! Whaddaya mean Prime dies?"

 

I'm extremely disappointed by this!!  I was hoping Welker would make through!!  My brother and I think that only he could've saved this Megatron ,who was horribly screw-up by Bay !!!

You're not the only one that thought that. The Megatron design is horrible. The only saving grace for this fan would be hearing that gravely Welker voice.

Oh well, this whole movie's a sh*tfest.

 

For all you anti-Weaving pro-Welker chaps I have one question:

What makes you think you know better than the people involved with this film who were actually at the auditions, and have had time to carefully study the audition tapes?

This decision was obviously not come to lightly - they've been "considering" this role for some time now. It's obvious they feel Weaving works better as Megatron than Welker did, and who knows, maybe he actually works better opposite Cullen than Welker did?

All i know is, when it comes to who I trust more - the people who have actually listened to the auditions or a bunch of whiney internet nerds wearing rose-tinted specs, I know who i side with.
