    I can see it now.....

    "Klaatu VanHalen Nikto....dude"

It was an inevitable remake reallly, but I think I'll give it a miss.

It was so long ago that this one might as well remain open.

I thought the original was a neat movie and can definitely see how it was scary back in its day. This remake could either be a good thing or bad. Then again I thought the remake of War of the Worlds was good but from what I get, the majority doesnt think so.

I'll stick with the original, thankyouverymuch. I find the odds of the original's message remaining even vaguely intact are amazingly slim.

The original is fun for it's vintage feel (at least to me). Like, for instance Gort would probably be completely computer animated (I feel CGI is a useful tool, but way overused) instead of being the fun looking dude in a styofoam suit. I think they should just put the original one back in theaters instead.

Yeah we've known of this travesty for quite a while.

If you claim this is one of your favorite Sci-Fi movies then your reaction should definitely not be "woot".

I believe my response in the last thread was something along the lines of "Oh God no."

    I stand by that statement.

from reports, best bet is to go buy the original for about what your ticket will cost at the remake, and watch a good movie at home.
they sucked the soul outta this one folks.

Pass, they are going to add and change so much to make it into an action CGI wank fest. Who needs it.

    Uh, sorry, but NO.

The original DTESS remains as relevant now as it was back in the early '50s.

Besides, I'm not interested in seeing Ted "Theodore" Klaatu step out of the ship at the end to say "Be excellent to each other - and - party on, dudes!!!" to the world's leaders and then air-guitar with Gort before they take off.
