I have my Masterpiece Megatron on display at work. He's sitting on my ledge in a fierce battle with MP Prime. I recently had to change cubes, and in the process of actually touching Megatron, I noticed some nasty chrome wear on his feet and his other chromed areas! Yikes, I've only owned him for a year!

    Yup, it's a known problem.

Can't figure out how to get it off either. I used some rubbing alcohol which worked fine but it came back with a vengeance and now appears to have stained the metal.

Thus mine remains MISB. I had one that was loose but it was just too fragile, so he's gone.

Mine is loose, and shows no sign of the problem, but Cosmic Rust MP Megatron still sounds good.

i heard that once you get the "rust" off coat his feet with future floor polish...and that should prevent the "cosmic rust"

Guys, it's just tarnish. Don't use chemical applications, just get a polishing cloth and clean it up. The kind used for musical instruments is best. Be aware that constant polishing will over time, wear the metal down.

(my fiance is a chemical engineer, we looked into what was going on with this back when it was first reported).

Regarding Issues with My MP Megatron:

The Feet seem to have to have a bit of discolored, but it seems there is a bigger issue with Megatron's Spine Area.

I am wondering if like using a Polish Cloth to remove tarnish/discoloring with using Clear Seal Paint to keep it from coming back or something else on those lines.

I am not upset/mad, but I am a bit worried since Megatron is my favorite and I don't want it to get ruined.

    Thanks for understanding,
