Interesting to say the least....
Will this take as long as the Evangelion and Battle Angel Alita? Yeah, I know movies take years upon years to make, but I haven't heard anything about them.
Ghost in the shell is way to wordy and deap for mainstream audience and i say that as a fan
The Wachowski brothers used it to pitch the original Matrix, though...It could work, IF handled by the right people.
Well, if it's more like SaC, and less like the movies, it could work perfectally. I mean, GitS, and GitS: Innocence, were both great movies, very artistic, but about 80% philosophy, 10% action, and 10% just looking at the pretty pictures. SaC, on the other hand, has always been very action oriented, while not abandoning the philisophical roots. This could work out. Hopefully it does work out, instead of just being lost to the wind like Evangelion.
I bet after Transformers we will see a storm of Mecha Movies coming our way. GiTS, EVA, Macross, Gundam.... I could see any of the big name series getting the live action treatment.
I have a bad feeling about this one. Who is going to be The Major? Charlize Theron in her Aeon Flux outfit could have been a possibility if they hadn't already done it. And please do not say Devon Aoki!!!
But some live action Tachikomas, I would not complain about seeing. Too bad they'll probably have to be mostly CG.
We won't see Macross. It'll be Robotech. Harmony Gold are bastards like that.
don't forget, 501 power ranger movies
that's ok, i like fokker better in robotech then macross. he's not a heartless drunken bastard in robotech...
No, he's an after school special.
i really liked robotech fokker... though. he was more of a guy you could expect hunter to look up too. *oh yes, and i guess i don't like drunks*
Better a nice womaniser as your squadron leader than a potentially unstable drunkard who is only flying because he's the best and they can't afford to discharge him because of the war.
He is a nice guy in Macross. He's just louder, more macho, and drinks a lot. He's a rough, charismatic badass with a gentle soul. He still loves Claudia. He still treats Hikaru like a brother. He's still got every ounce of goodness in him that survived into Robotech. Moreover, his death is much more in character in Macross. His personality may largely be a stereotype, but Robotech's Roy has barely any personality at all by comparison. He's just a watered down copy of the original.
Macross Minmay > Robotech Roy
OH I'm up for this. I bet it'll be good.
to me, robotech is my child hood favorite show, and i looked up to roy like i did to optimus, so imagine how i felt, when i saw macross, and found out that in the original he's a drunk? it's like growing up with optimus and finding out that he's a wife beater or something in japan to me
The Wachowski brothers would be an obvious choice to direct. Maybe too obvious though.
yea, i would like to see a ghost in the shell movie. and i am actually looking forward to the battle angel movie too, *mainly because i hope it sparks interest in making a new anime of it... and finishing the story...*
Well then it sucks to be you. I'm sorry you have to feel so judgmental about people who drink. Roy's no worse a guy than our very own Dark_Convoy.
And characters that are too perfect suck, unless they're in a show for very small children. Neither Robotech nor Macross were meant to be that. TransFormers was.
I'm particularly interested that Cameron apparently wants to film Alita in 3D. Stereoscopy is a minor hobby of mine.
