I think I'm going to take some to the toy show I'm hittin' on Sunday. Not much in the TF department, but if I find something before then I will! Nice challenge webz!
my work had a toys for tots box, it was their for 2 weeks. Not a single toy. I sent out an email statying my disapointment. The next day, it was over flowing. I donate $100 in yoys every year. I also sponsor a foster child thru Big Brothers/Big Sisters. My dad was an orphan and the stpries he told me made me feel bad for kids that are less fortunate. Good call on the challenge.
I usually buy $100 worth of Transformers/Star Wars and drop it in the Toys for Tots bin, but this year finances are tight. I still want to put a deluxe or voyager in this year to help out.
I usually donate ~$100 - 150 worth of stuff per year, with the philosophy of buying a bunch of smaller toys so multiple kids get at least something, rather than just one large toy. I tend to pick up stuff on clearance throughout the year to donate, taking whatever TFs I can find when they go on sale. So far this year, I've donated... - 2x Classics Magnus vs Skywarp two-packs - 2x Classics Mirage - 1x Classics Ramjet - 1 each of Movie Deluxe Barricade, Jazz (original deco), '74 Bumblebee, Wreckage, Scorponok - 1x Cybertron Unicron - 4x Predator Attack Team Minicons - 1x Dirt Digger Team Minicons - 1x Clear Skies Team Minicons - 1x Target-exclusive Legends of Cybertron four-pack
I know TRU did last year, up to a certain amount of toys/money, but I'm not sure whether they're doing that again this year.
Count me in.I have 5 kids and last Christmas was rough due to being stuck moving on no notice.(ladlord sold our rental)If it were not for those donation places my kids would not of had a Christmas. This year everything is good and you better believe I'm helping them out from now on.
Last night, before I went to my poker match, I stopped at TRU and got Baracade and a Barbi doll and put them in the toys for tots box there. It felt really good to do that, and I hope those kids that get them really enjoy them.
Next year we need to organize something earlier in the year, maybe in November where we(TFW2005) can do something as a group. Maybe get Hasbro involved. I wish I would have thought about it sooner.
I did this last year and I'm hoping to do it again this year, even though finances are pretty tight. It was only a few scout class toys last year though so hopefully this year, I can do a little bit more.
Well instead of getting a toy today when I was at TRU, I gave $20 to the Marine at the enterance, and another $20 to the Marine at the exit. The Marine at the exit said "You're braver than I am to be wearing shorts today" to which I had to correct him and say "No you're a much braver man I" (for those who don't know I live in New Hampshire) Merry Christmas all!
I'm absolutly broke this year, plus its too late now anyways where I am, but I donated over $500 dollars in all sorts of quality toys a few years ago, it was awesome
I have a REAL challenge for everybody! Look up the origin of the Chistmas holiday! Do some *REAL RESEARCH* on it. I've been presenting this challenge to everybody I know for years & not one person will pick up a book. I can't tell them about it because they won't believe me, they need to see it for themselves.
Last week I donated a MIB Atl Smokescreen, MIB RID Grimlock, MIB RID Hightower, 2 Hulk movie figures and about 12 marvel action figures ,2 cans of Chunky soup and my TEAC graphic equalizer so I think I will make some children happy and one happy DJ
