Hey, I'm hitching down to Florida next week--specifically Homestead and the Coral Castle.

I'm looking for any other off-the-wall stops I could make. I'm especially into local ghost stories, but anything weird or Americana works. There's a coupla routes I might end up taking, so anywhere in Florida is a possibility.

And hell, if anybody would be willing to volunteer a couch for a night, I wouldn't turn it down. Beers on me, of course.

Have you considered trying to track down "Skunk Ape" in the Everglades? It's like Big Foot, only Florida style.

Ooo, that's a new one to me. I'll just be passing through places, but I might try to crash for a night in the Everglades.

If I get a ride offer from some dude into fullscreen, I'm definitely turning it down.

Try hitting up some mom-and-pop gator wrestling shows. I'm sure there's a few. Oh, and somewhere there's a mermaid show- not the one at Disney, either. Ah, here's a link.

And don't forget about the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world, right here in Lakeland at Florida Southern University.

    Maybe some of these places?

In any case, take lots of pics. I expect nothing less than a full travelogue packed with TFW-style hi-jinks and chicanery when you get back.

Ghost things in Florida.. Hm, well, dunno about the rest but Orlando has none. We got lots of stuff, some even involve lasers, but no ghosts here.

Dude! Whatever you do, don't look the Skunk Ape in the eye. I did it once. Just once. I died. Yeah, killed me dead.
