For those who don't know, Image comics did a crossover series with GI Joe in which the premise is that Cobra discovers the stasis locked Transformers in the crashed Ark, steals them, and converts them into remote controlled weapons. One of these was a HISS Tank Optimus Prime. Enter my favorite local shop, at which I got a HISS Tank for $5. (Which sat on my floor for over a year while I was working on my Kenner style Enterprise.) Add arms and head from a junker Cybertron Optimus Prime, smokestack/cannons from a couple of Slugslingers, and some Kreo parts for joints, and we have a crossover project. This was definitely a project I wasn't sure was going to work, but I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I did end up adding some cab shoulder pads for a stronger silhouette, and the knees aren't terribly strong, but hey, for under $20 in materials, he's earned a place on my shelf for some time to come. Thanks for looking!
Yes, yesss, I like this very much. They were among my first dozen Transformers comics from the back issue bin. Are you inclined to do any more?
Arise OptimHiss Prime!! Fantastic work!! The Devil's Due TF Gi Joe crossover comics are woefully underrated. I loved all 4 series. Everyone gushes over Don Figueroa's War Within designs and rightly so but the designs from this series were equally great as your magnificent custom has proved. I truly hope you'll do more. Magnificent Sir!!
Thanks, everyone. I have an idea for a Megatron counterpoint, (even though they left him a gun in that series) just gotta find a good deal on a Joe Slugger...
Thanks. Aside from the original story, I figure if you're a robot in disguise, you'd disguise yourself as an adversary, right? Thank you for the kind words, everyone.
