He looks like the type of guy that sits in a dark room listening to Blink-182 while wondering why life hates him.

In short, that is 100% not what the Man of Steel, the Son of Krypton, the Blue Boyscout....should look like.

That's superboy prime. He's pretty much stuck in the real world. I for one can't wait to read it.

In a weird way he kinda reminds me of Alex from Prototype.

That's actually from an upcoming Elseworlds-type story called Superman: Earth-One. It has nothing to do with the mainstream Superman at all as far as I know.

No, it's Superman. It's just from "Superman: Earth One". It's sort of like DC's version of Marvel's Ultimate Universe, re-telling the characters origins in a more current, modern day setting. Totally separate universe from the mainstream comics.

And that article is wrong... That image is him changing from his civilian clothes, not a new look. His costume actually looks a lot like the traditional Superman costume...

At least they aren't changing his look in the main series, like back in the 90s when they gave him that raging mullet for a while.

I don't care for the art in this, and the story has gotten iffy reviews, but that's actually a decent tweak to the costume. They still haven't gotten rid of the 'underwear-outside-the-pants' thing, but it's a good start. The alterations to Clark Kent's look don't surprise me; the Robert Pattinson look is in right now and they want this to appeal to a mainstream audience (which it most likely won't), so that's how Clark gets redesigned.

How would you redesign the suit so it wasn't a pair of red budgie smugglers outside the tights, cos a sheer blue thing wouldn't look as good.

This image from fanartexhibit is a pretty good go of the idea though, plus his other stuff is neat.

its just a JMS Graphic Novel, its not like its the main book.

JMS is getting close to being on my list of guys who were once great but have lost it, and are just churning out great mounds of crap they are not as revolutionary or as amazing as they want it to be, or think it is, but since they have a "big name" its okay.

I need a shorter name for that list.

    people on it include

    Kevin Smith and Frank Miller

Ah electro red and blue superman. The 90's truly was a special time, the likes of which we will never see again.

Some semi-official thing from Wizard about an "Ultimate DCU" lineup. I like it. Vaguely alien, but still very clean.

I really like their Batman redesign. Intimidating as hell.

Definitely something like this, although maybe lighten the blue a little and swap out the black in the shield for yellow. However, that does serve the purpose of getting rid of the "underwear" while still having some red near the waist to break up the large patches of blue.

From now on, I'm going to go out of my way to use this term IRL as much as possible.

Stupid article. The whole emo/twilight crap are all blown out of proportion.

Earth One isn’t about this guy. It this guy :

    Becoming this guy:

Love the updated suit and hairstyle. Very modern .The only problem is that he still has those stupid underwear. Get rid of them.

The GN is kinda like Batman Begins ,in the sense it shows you the journey/evolution of the character and in the end he becomes the hero. The graphic novel also has a strong sense that it takes place in the "real" world. Clark seemed to me like an actual guy, and the problems he faced seemed like the sort of problems a guy might have in his shoes, at this time in his life. He isn't perfect but he eventually decide that he need to become a SUPER-man.

The way that the world reacted to him was great. Some people are already cheering him on, but many are apprehensive and just not sure what to think. I can imagine folks like us getting into heated arguments about the whole situation.

Overall a good comic. It redefines and updates the character for today's generation but stay true to core of characters and mythos .
