I watched this on SciFi channel recently. It's pretty good. It's like a bizarre post-apocalyptic fusion of Highlander and Ninja Scroll.

Any chance of Michael Ironside from Highlander II returning to do a voice?

    That movie was TERRIBLE.

I got it when it first came out on DVD about a month or two ago. I'm not a huge anime fan, but it isn't bad.

Smangerbot, yes there was a highlander cartoon several years ago. I haven't seen any of it, but from what i've heard it sounds weird. Since it was made for kids they don't take heads to get quickenings. It had something to do woth their swords or something.

I have it on DVD, but I have yet to see all of it.

From what I've seen, it looks good. The only thing that gets my goat is the Highlander Tag, Colin McCloed (is that how its spelt?) is an immortal, but isn't a Highlander, there's a bit at the beginning of the film that says he gets an honorary membership in the clan for being in one of their battles or summat.

Why shoehorn in the clan connection? I dunno, maybe its explained later in the movie. Or maybe they needed to put that in? Bah.

    Sorry if I've spoilt anything...

The trailers gave me the impression that its Hokuto No Ken with less gore and swords instead of fists, how accurate is that based on the actual film itself?

The feel is similar, but there's no focus on special techniques or anything like that.

It is a little more complicated than that, but yeah that's about right. It's in a scene that mirrors one from the first movie after Connor died in battle.

You were close on the spelling. It's actually Macleod.

I caught it on SciFi too and it was pretty good. It was done by the same director and character designer that worked on Ninja Scroll and part of the Animatrix.

I've seen this at work with the intent to buy it. But "The Search For Vengeance" has got to be the blandest subtitle they could have possible thought of...

I liked the one that was on Scifi, which is saying alot since I don't often enjoy anime. Highlander seems to work well in the anime format so can't wait for the new one.

Yes, it features Quentin Macleod and Ramirez, given 90's futuristic dystopian outfits.

There were Quickening-deaths (at least in the pilot, and I'm -sure- more happened throughout), they just happened wholly offscreen more or less.

    Here's my review.

I loved the flick and thought it was hands down the best Highlander movie since the original (not that it's competition is particularly fierce). I'm a sucker for Yoshiaki Kawajiri's directorial style, admittedly, but I thought he did a great job on the flick (and David Abromowitz's script wasn't half bad, either). Definately worth checking out, at the very least, if only for all the eye candy.

Here is one that slipped through. On September 15th Adrian Paul returns as Duncan MacLeod on the Sci-fi channel in the TV movie Highlander the Source.

Maybe it sounds better in Japanese?

I always thought the kids cartoon Highlander was a joke, like the Robocop cartoon series. The premise for Highlander is quite a tragic one, immortals can never get close to mortals without suffering, so despite their long lives they can never truly live. And to top that off there's always someone around the corner waiting to lop your head off.

Thats one thing in the Highlander TV series I also despised, women immortals. Its not that I'm sexist, but two gendesr dilutes the whole tragedy thing. 'Oh I'm immortal with my girlfriend'. Eh.
