high tech kids bus - Irumina II!

[strike]Can you guess what I'm working on?[/strike] Geminii guessed right! The Irumina II!

I'm trying to build it to scale with the Holi Micromaster.

I started doing measurements on paper and papercrafting my design before I start building this from styrene.

    Started on the styrene/plaplate works:

    more progress today!

I'm going to make the cockpit open up and close. Maybe even with clear plastic. So I need to construct some chairs in there. Even figured out the leg transformation using polycaps leftover from various gundam models.

I forgot how much I love working with styrene. It's so much sturdier than paper and so much easier than wood.

I need to source some wheels though...

    Update august 31st
    Going steadily:

I sourced some wheels of a small tonka monstertruck. I'm not sure yet if I want to fill up the threads for anime accuracy. For the front wheels I'll be using all four of movie Swindle's wheels.

    it stands!!

I made a mistake with the clear blue canopy though... I will need to replace it as its nog able to open.

I had time to finish most of the smaller parts. Now the only thing left to do are the cockpit, the front wheels and putting it all together :)

    Car mode is practically finished

Chickenwalker works. It's really unstable and I need to rework the joints for this to work. The tamiya cement isn't taking to the clear plastic from the canopy so I need to redo the whole thing and look up another way for it to stick together.

Managed to fix the joints and thicken the legs a little. Stand sturdy enough for me (it's still pretty unstable but it will withstand a bump to the desk) Also found me some more wheels and started filling up seams and holes. Still need to do that cockpit interior and canopy...

    Update september 15th
Today I made a lot of progress. After a first layer of primer and more sanding/ filling/ sanding/ filling a new layer of primer was sprayed on. Now it's getting somewhere.

[IMG] After my first coat of primer it looks like I had to do the entire model over because of all the dents and scratches. Primer does that to you :p

All the parts broken apart ready for more filler and sanding.

My low budget spraybooth and curing chamber. Right after last coat of primer.

Now that looks more like it. I love how hard work shows. Still need toe do the hubcaps. I'm not sure yet how to best tackle this. I have some laying around.

With the modded joints and the extra layer of paint the Illumina II has no problem standing up. Just a few scratches and dents that I need to fill before I can start using colors on it.

A Bus-Former? Fucking awesome. I wasn't impressed by the 3rd party one that came out a while ago, so i eagerly await this one.

You both got it so wrong. I've got a hint for you though. That rescue patrol police car is called Holi in Japan. And his friend pilotes what I'm about to make.

I've started with the styrene already but don't have all the supplies home yet. I'll update tonight!

Yeah, I'm looking to buy a MM Hyperdrive so I repaint it into Clipper. Same for an anime accurate Holi. My girl is all about the Clipper attitude so she takes a liking to Holi :p

    Ebay:
The Illumina II (with two Ls instead of a R contrary to what's painted on the side, Cybertrons don't use spell check :lol ) was Jan's vehicle built for him to be more useful to the autobots during Transformers Victory

    Illumina II - Transformers Wiki

Looking good on the project, I wish I had the patience for scratchbuilding like that.

I love this, even though I totally forgot about this (I haven't watched Victory in years).
I think the rear wheels are too large, though. The vehicle mode shot on tfwiki has them being about 1.5x the height of the front wheels, and these here appear to be 2x.
