I love this, its so nice to have something that reminds me of mine childhood.

 

Sexist or not, I don't really care for anything "femme" when it comes to TF's or robots in general. I also have no need for anything 'Beast' related - Wars/Machines. Just doesn't appeal to me in the least.

 

I really doubt this chica will ever get a toy. At least, one with accurate proportions, anyway.

And Arachnid does not seem to be techo-organic at all. I dont know why you would think that.

Good thing the TF franchise doesn't cater to just you, because there's several whole tons of people who would seriously disagree.

I'll be very upset if she has regular legs. She could've had such a unique and interesting design, to be scrapped in favour of the norm. What a letdown.

He flies successfuly all the time, he just never lands properly.

No, seriously, watch every episode of Beast Wars with him in it, he never once lands in beast mode. He either crashes or transforms first.  

 

ok looking at her as if she has both spider legs and robot legs let me do some theorizing.
Arcee's legs are (as show in one of the stills) approx 2 times Jack's height (giving that i was 5ft 9in at that age I'll round to an even 5ft for Jack) that gives Arcee a leg length of 10ft. As Airachnid looks to be the same relative size as her, she has the same size legs. Now if Arcee is running away (to protect Jack) but is unable to transform due to the uneven ground and trees(as she is no doubt faster on wheels then legs), her escape speed is limited. With Ariachnid's 6 spider legs(yes i counted check the pic) she has a faster running speed, and would pull up/transform her humanoid legs to decrease wind resistance.
who wants to bet Airachnid's alt form(if she has one) is some type of helicopter?

I just though of something. What if Arachnid doesn't have an abdomen or legs, but a tail. Like a scorpion's tail?

 

That would be awesomely creepy too! Could be kinda like a twisted dark mermaid-type design. But I don't think this will be the case. Would detract from the overall spider-look.

Mind you I'm rather enjoying this new series, but new characters against the same ones used over and over and ove....well you get the idea, would be a breath of fresh air to me.

 

Am I the only one thinking that since Airachnid has those spikes on her head that she was Elita-1 at some point ?

Cue post-episode thread about "buffing her abdomen" and "hot waxing her thorax" in T-minus 17 hours.

 

But Scorpions are arachnids, too. (I think) But yeah, with the webbing (which IMO is stupid since any one of these robots should be able to just fidget and cut their way out considering how sharp they all are) I guess they really are going for spiders.

Also I would guess we're getting a toy of Arachnid, since one was obviously planned since Hasbro tried to trademark it under transforming toys a while back.

We had that. It was called Beast Wars (Machines). It was great. Fans went all "trukk not munky". It's been trukks ever since.

 

If Airachnid is using that as weapon, I'm sure it's not easy to cut.

She's a "kickass decepticon" after all.

 

That's just it, to me webbing as a weapon is just lame since it's, well, spider webs.

 

You realize that spider webs are incredibly powerful? I mean, I can see how that would be hard to notice considering we are several thousand times the size of the typical target the web is supposed to catch, but take my word for it. It is very strong. If spiders were the size of people, i'm pretty sure the web would stop a bulldozer.

 

Furthering the point,

So webbing on that scale, using some kind of alloy or liquid metal that is oh-so-common in TF, is likely to be very strong indeed.

I'm not to sure why, but when I see the picture of Airchnid crawling through the woods, I expect to see Starscream and Grindor behind her.
But here's a few things:

1. It accualy does look like her legs make up the abdomen. (Notice the pointy on the end.)

2. Um, why is she holding her finger under Arcee's chin?

3. I really don't see anthing saying she's a helicoptor. Maybe some kind of Spider-scorpion thing.

4. Maybe her 'crawling' mode is her spider mode. (Because in the promo, she had legs, but here, she doesn't)
