To say the least, HFTD Sunspot is a direct repaint of ROTF Skystalker. He comes in the standard scount-class packaging for the Hunt for the Decepticons line: Not to be confused with a close namesake, this guy is "Sunspot" and not Sunstorm nor is he Sunstreaker I guess his bio explains his colors -- he must have forgotten what faction he's supposed to be on and what kind of jet his alt mode is supposed to be for.... Alt mode is nice and solid -- just like ROTF Skystalker, HFTD Sunspot only has front-mounted landing gear. The colors make you want to pick up some creamy dessert with caramel swirls but it actually makes the subtle details of the mold stand out. Sunspot also has a jet-mode battle mode which is basically his mold's take on a GERWALK mode. Robot mode manages to stay on his feet despite the spring-loaded ankles. If there's something I've noticed about this particular Sunspot, it's that his joints are a little more loose than my other 2 ROTF Skystalkers. I guess there's truth to the saying that the second time won't be as tight as the first one. The way the head is detailed makes the mono-eye design stand out even more. The weapons are the same -- the scythes have a peg and a clip. You can either clip a scythe on the forearm or have it peg into a hand. As can be seen below, the forearm can also accommodate other clip-system weapons. In this case, I had Breacher's weapon in arms reach. Well, aside from looking like some dessert pastry and not being as tight in the joints as the first mold, Sunspot has all the pro's and con's of the original Skystalker mold. The colors help bring out the lines and details which are otherwise obscured by the darker Skystalker but it's the same colors which make me crave for custard cake while doing this write up. Yes, he'll make a good replacement for those who weren't able to get Skystalker.
