IT'S NOT A REPAINT.
IT'S NOT A RETOOL.
It is a BRAND NEW MOLD based on the same character. No more, no less.
That said, looks pretty good to me, we'll see how I'm feeling when I see it on the shelves.
Also, I'm pretty sure the doors are supposed to hang down as wings, as they are in this image. Can you confirm, Red Leader?
Oh, how I want to remove those flames....
..He mistransformed the back kibble
Dang, he does have a rather tiny head, doesn't he.
Looks like a pretty cool fig though. If they retool it into a different character, or just paint him in a gold and call em Sunstreaker, then I'll likely pick that up.
Looks cool. I made the Rebel Alliance observation as well. I guess that's what he was doing for the first movie.
Geez, the panel lines are awful. Once again, the flames are atrocious. I hope that that will be correctable with a silver sharpie so I don't have to go out and buy paint supplies.
On the other hand, The robot mode sculpting isn't too bad, even it the forearm kibble is too large. I agree that the head is too small. I also, in a way, like how the windshield goes into his chest. His legs look like improvements as well. Hope we get a sunstreaker repaint out of this.
One final complaint: FIRST REVIEWS ARE SUPPOSED TO INCLUDE TRANSFORMATION!!!
This. That's why I clicked on it, I thought it would show transformation.
AWE. SOME. Since I never have figures displayed in Alt mode, the glaring seamlines don't bother me at all (but I can understand some others might find that very annoying). But why am I the only one digging the red flame deco? I feel so lonely on my side of the fence... (
It's possible that these flames are just painted on top of the silver plastic, and could be removed with a good soaking in isopropyl alcohol. If you're not familiar with how this works, you simply soak the parts in the alcohol for a day or so and then the paint will come right off with a good brushing (I use a stiff bristled brush like the kinds in sculpting tool kits, but a toothbrush will suffice)
iso alcohol will usually take paint off in less than an hour
I'm familiar, but very doubtful.
I like it way more now that I know it looks like the Rebel Alliance insignia. However, the robot still lacks articulation in the legs and waist. It may be a better representation of him, but it is still sub-par, imo. I think I'll just skip it and wait for the TF3 toy, and hope that one is better.
thats always a huge negative for me in a review when they do not show the transformation.
Anways as Sideswipe its a pass if it get repainted into someone else then its a maybe
This. Maybe next time they should get someone who, oh I dunno, knows what they're talking about and will show us the transformation next time?
the head pops out from the roof top, doesn't it..... That makes me sad.
i got a question.
ya think these guns can fit in Sideswipe/Swerve's hands as well?
i would like the idea of having both blades and guns for a Sideswipe character.
and depending upon how this version of SS looks in hand, i may keep this one in alt mode. give the guns to SS v1.0 and have a decent display of both modes.
as for reviewers that don't know what they are talking about, it grates my cheese hearing that kind of stuff.
a little prep (Google) before going "live" on Youtube would instill faith and trust in the clientele.
I really wish that this new mold primary color was black. It would've made that red paint app look 10 times better. And the seams would've have looked so pronounced in car mode. Ahh well
Meh...not a fan of the deco, and I prefer the blades to the guns. I think Brawn will do for my double pistol-wielding Autobot forces for the time being.
