UPDATE: Post #13 I've already posted about Starscream's ball joint wrists here and about Timesynch's boosters here. Recently I added some gold chrome to him and figured I give him his own thread... What do you guys think of this look? I don't plan on repainting all of him, but may hit some areas here and there (I've already done some wires on his arms and his little missiles). So I should be able to keep using chrome if I find other gold areas in CGI pics...
Ha ha! You're the second person to notice him. I didn't even think of it when I was taking the pics. I used a poor man's flight stand to have him leaping into battle Thanks! I'm thinking of using the gold chrome on other things like Ironhide and Optimus knuckles... EDIT: Moved original pics to this post...
The Gold looks great, but it tends to make the rest of him look kinda unfinished, you know what I mean?
Yep, I do. He's kind of tricky because there are a lot of areas I'd like to paint, and probably will, but I don't want to touch the tatooed areas. I don't even want to try repainting those...
That sounds like a good idea, I'll probably do that next time I work on him... I've got a few of those flight stands in my office. I was using two of them to hold up the ark
looks cool. but i think you're missing some gold for his face, especially his mouth. and you should paint his missiles.. they have like a green striped pattern.
Thanks, I'll have to examine his face some more. I might need to use paint, those areas will probably be too small ands intricate for the chrome... I used markers on the missiles, but they're starting to fade. I'll definitely have to paint those, too...
11-15-12 update Thank you, I hope it looks even better now I worked on him some yesterday, keeping in mind the advice I received earlier in this thread... - I tried out doing a wash on areas of his back that aren't visible in jet mode, at least not on top. This was the first time I've ever tried a wash and wanted to see what people think. There were some areas it was hard to get the excess black off. Maybe it was because it dried too much before I wiped those. I might have to check out the tutorials again... - I did some "dry" brushing on his shoulders and thighs. I'll have to do his forearms and other areas next... - I painted the missiles on his weapon a light green. It's kind of hard to distinguish it from the gray, so I painted some silver on the blades.... - I added a little gold to his face. I think his head will be helped out a lot with a wash, once I'm better at it
