I read about the 600+ million worldwide, but how did it fair against Simpsons and Mr. Pothead?

Harry Potter has an insane following right now- even though the book lovers complain a lot about the conversion to the big screen. Simpsons really shouldn't have in any way beaten out TFs. I enjoyed watching the movie, but it was just an extended plot with child nudity and language they couldn't have shown on TV. I mean, they have literally destroyed Springfield in lots of episodes, so what was special about the movies plot? Oh! Homer did something stupid and had to redeem himself! No... that's Simpon's plot writing 101. Now... to rant on a little, anyone else think the Simpsons episodes where Homer has at least some amount of diginity and sanity are more entertaining? Otherwise he is just Peter from Family Guy but Simpsons just don't work quite like that. Ok... end rant. I am glad TFs beat out Simpsons, but not surprised it couldn't beat out "Harry Potter and the Same Plot".

    The way I see it...

When I saw Transformers I was completely blown away, it was absolutely fantastic! Much better than I expected it to be.

Harry Potter I thought was alright, but nothing really special.

But the Simpsons was probably my favorite movie this summer. As much as I love Transformers I gotta say I love the Simpsons a lot more (as you can see in my avatar and everything   )

I disagree with Liege, I think Homer is more entertaining as a dumbass than a "normal" human. If he had sanity and dignity, it'd be the opposite of the roots of the show

The Simpsons Movie was as boring as the last 5 years of the TV series has been. The humour was forced and the story was all over the place.

Back on topic, Transformers could have done better if promotion was better outside North America. Hopefully Paramount will learn from this for the sequel.

Simpsons had one great joke that redeemed it in my eyes.

Spider pig, spider pig. Does what ever a spider pig does.

Reminds me of an article (shame I didn't save it to link to here) on MSNBC about this summer's hits and misses in movies, and who ever wrote it had the gall to not mention Transformers at all! HP, Simpsons, Shreck 3, but no TF! What ignorance!

Those jerks don't know just how good Transformers is! I say let's strap them to their seats and make them watch Transformers over and over again until they admit that it's better than all the other movies from this summer!!!
