Hi! I'm one of those suckers who bought Henkei Thundercracker, believing we'd never see a stateside release. Now that Generations Thundercracker is coming out (and looks better and apparently has better QC), I'm thinking about getting him.

Of course, that leaves me with my Henkei TC, that I've clear-nail-polished in various spots to try and fix him. What do you think are the chances that I could sell him to a Henkei enthusiast and try to recover some of the money I spent on him?

I think the chances are no worse than before. There are enought Henkei purists, and besides Generations TC is too dark to go along with other Henkei seekers.

A cursory evaluation of EBAY's capability indicates a distinct monetary deficiency.

I'm still after a real Henkei Thundercracker to replace the KO version I have in my line up. Tbh, you cannot tell the difference unless you closely examine the figure, so I'm happy enough I guess. Plus, what with the Generations version (not to mention the fact that I already own a perfectly serviceable replica) means that I am now no longer willing to pay what used to be the extortionate going rate for the genuine article.

I've seen plenty go up on eBay for peanuts lately and not even sell. Not trying to grab one on the cheap here (although that would be nice), just saying I'm someone who wants a Henkei TC and even I'm not willing to go the extra mile to get one. Maybe in time, for myself as well as other potential buyers out there, this situation will change.

Yeah, I too fell under the belief that Thundercracker wouldn't get a Hasbro, mass-retail Classics release, so I bought the Henkei version... only to have learned there was the issue of his cannons not staying in place on his arms in robot mode.

So I'm going to get the Generations version, hope that he doesn't suffer the same problem as Henkei, and then see about selling my Henkei Thundercracker.

The Generations Thundercracker is awesome - all joints are tight and the cannons fit very snug in the arm holes. You should have no problems.

You had to fix him? what was wrong with it?

that alone tells me that 1.) i am glad i don't have one, and 2.) any high end figure that needs repair out of the box is not great.

"Fixes" aside, nail polish aside, if the figure is still in good shape, you may have a good chance of selling it.

Yep, you'll have to take a loss for it. Sucks that it was a high price figure AND had QC issues but that's the game. These problems are thankfully rare though (I'm looking at you Cosmic Rust MP Megatron and MP Rodimus!!!).

Probably a heavy loss depending on what you paid.

Right now, if you want a "henkei Thundercracker", there are tons of people selling the legit one, but due to 2 factors, the demand is VERY low:

    1. Generations TC, which btw, is pretty cool and no loose null ray flaws.
    2. CHMS KO TC, which is very difficult to tell from original, also have no null ray flaws.

As long as you let the buyer know about the polish, its all good.

I don't know how much you're talking about recovering, but people love their Henkei! figs. Either way though, get the Generations version.. too dark, too light, too new, too dumb, whatever,.. it's the nicest one out there.
