Pics of Hot Shot were first shown by Hasbro at BotCon 2008, when he had launchers. Shortly thereafter, I believe at SDCC, they had dropped the launchers for costing reasons. Easy enough for them to retool those parts to hide the fact the launchers/tail pipes were missing.

Both versions lack the engine/gun that Armada Hot Shot had.

I like the gray bumper, but I love the blue hands.

Damn Japanese get the missile launchers. Oh well. 1977 Camaro Bumblebee's weapons should be good replacements. Hasbro would definitely win this if they had the missile launchers, especially if they were the same gray as the Henkei's bumper.

It's funny to see the people who already bought the Universe version try to justify their purchase despite the evident superiority of the Henkei version. ;)

I think I prefer the Hasbro version in this case. Missile launchers are overrated.

In the meantime, I'll be chuckling at the pic of the two Jolts leaning on each other to stand up. :)

All the henkei version got going for it is the guns. hasbros version is better on all other counts.
Nothing about the gray says hotshot, it clashes with the yellow(however if the the yellow was a diffrent color i would like it).

Enjoy your over priced chromed deluxes.;)

I think the gray looks nice, but the blue on the Hasbro version isn't bad either. I got the latter. Didn't know about the bonus launchers, though. Might pick up the Henkei anyway. Or customize the one I currently have to fit launchers.

No less funny than people working hard to justify spending twice if not three times as much counting shipping for what amounts to minimal differences and extremely debatable superiority.

(Mind you, I'm speaking in general here, not necessarily Hot Shot Rod specifically)

(oops, forgot to add the "I'm not being a dick" wink there. ;)  )

Hasbro Hot Shot looks so much better next to the awful looking Henkei version. I find it kinda funny how pretty much every other Henkei toy has been a slavish homage, and this one deviates so much. On a side note, anybody else think it'd be cool to see Hot Shot repainted into his RID colors?

There is absolutely nothing to "justify". There are people, including myself, who prefer the look the Hasbro version has over the Henkei version. The one benefit the Henkei version has is the inclusion of the missile launchers, and even then it's ruined by the chrome, so it just ends up not being a benefit at all in the end.

I'm partial to the grey on the Henkei version and it's nice to see the figure will have some guns...unfortunately, they went and screwed that up by (from the look of it) putting that ugly chrome on the launchers. Not that it matters, since I already have the Hasbro version and this mold isn't even worth $10 USD, let alone whatever a Henkei release sells for.

The chrome is what makes it cooler, imo. Especially in car mode, where it looks like he actually has tail pipes if you take out the "missiles".

    To each their own.

Why do you hate the mold? Just curious. I just got it yesterday, and I really like it. Ironically the minicon port on mine will not allow Jolt to attach...

The poseability is nice, the transformation is unique, and the the detail is very high. A nice update to an originally horrible figure.

I have no interest in this figure but...

How does putting chrome on the launchers ruin the look of the figure? Would it look better if it was grey or black?

I don't get the chrome hate. Sure its justified if its randomly placed but chrome weapons have always been a Transformers staple.

I'm getting the Henkei version mainly because he'll have actual weapons. I'd prefer to get the Hasbro version, and may still, but I don't like my bots not having weapons, ah well.

Personally, there is very little chrome I actually like on TF's (mostly on RID figures). I will admit that this use of chrome isn't random like most of the other chrome in the Henkei line, but that doesn't make me like it any better. In the end, chrome is just something I'm not a big fan of.

It's just the way they are posed next to each other, and the fact the Henkei version is closer to the camera than the Hasbro one.

I'm really considering the Henkei but I'm just not sure if the mold is worth buying.
