Here's a custom I finished a couple of months ago. I wanted it to look factory/production and not like a custom so I spent a lot of money to get it all right.

Stripped off the paint from a red alert, mixed/matched/dyed parts to get them all the right color and even made more accurate sirens. the license plate is based on real japanese license plates.

I was worried about screwing up so I did two extra sets of stickers and sirens. The stickers are the type used on professional prototypes in design and the paper is not available to the general public. They are super thin and have the same satin finish as transformers toys. They are printed using a xerox phaser laser printer and not inkjet, that's why the colors are so good and the details are so sharp.

The sirens have a clear half and a chrome plated half, you paint the inside with clear red and it will never scratch/wear off.

Wow! Really slick, really classy! Ever since I got the Red Alert mold, I've been struck how much I like it in "Sunstreaker" configuration. I think it's something about the clear window that makes it look different from the earlier versions of them mold. How did you go about getting the light-bars made?

There's only one thing here that I question... with the connection holes already in the roof for Red Alert's light bar, wouldn't it have made sense to attach the new light bar over those holes?

I think you are mistaking the homage. Look at the original Diaclone Police Sunstreaker. The star is a common badge seen on Japanese Metropolitan police cars.

 

Not really. I mean, you could tape off an area, and less dye would get to it, but I don't think the results would be very clean.
