Hello all. Just to share my Henkei Cyclonus. To be honest, I had such a hard time deciding whether I wanted to give him a gloss or matt finish. I personally am not sure if I want him to have a chromy metallic purple finish as shown in the pictures or a matt shine but I know some *or many* of you would claim that a jet's not supposed to be shiny. Then again he's a cybertronian jet? Urghh...*big headache*

Either way, I may change the gloss to matt or leave him as it depending on the owner when the time comes. But feel free to give me ur personal suggestions. One of the WIP pics inside is Cyclonus having a matt finish. *which I soon changed after 5 minutes* Haiz..haha..Also, will post up alternate mode pics tmr when the gloss has at least toughened up a bit.

Last but not least, I would like to give my sincerest thanks to solrac333 for his cyclonus repaint which gave me some inspiration as well as frenzyrumble in giving me a lengthy explanation on some paint mixing tips. OOh..not forgetting nemesis predaking for pointing out to me the name and colour scheme of Cyclonus's sidekick. haah. Thanks all!

Well, thanks guys. You've given me some peace of mind. Oh, and in case anyone is interested in knowing the colour formula, it's glossy purple mixed heavily with white, some super silver and gloss. Lots of gloss.

Utterly, utterly beautiful paint job, there.

But I gotta ask, why buy the Henkei version which is three times as expensive just to repaint it? Why not get the Hasbro version instead?

Well, I used glossy purple, added white. Lots of it to break down the colour. Some super light silber too. Then gloss to lighten the entire paint. Thinned it with thinner and out the airbrush it goes. Thanks. Ur mails were really awesome.

Hmmm..Good question. Coz in SIngapore, the difference between the Henkei and Classics amount to less than $5? Depending when ur ordering too. If preorder, it costs ard SGD $25. Ard USD 16.60 at the prevailing exchange rate. Unless I get the earlier molds. Just bought henkei Jetfire for SGD $50. That's almost 30% more expensive than when he was released unfortunately.

You know what, the WAY that you did the gloss finish comes off as metallic more than it does "wet" (which is why I don't care for gloss myself), which is both what you were shooting for and flipping AWESOME. Seriously, he looks just fine with the metallic gloss. Keep him as is. :)

Why thank you. I guess it's the paint mixture. The gloss merely made it more erm...Glossy? haha..And it seems that most of the comments like him metallic and chromy rather than matt. Phew. Thanks!!!

I like him as is, you are so good with the metallic finish I can't imagine you doing anything with a matt finish

Aha, that clarifies it. So now it's hard to tell because I'm (slightly) colorblind... does the original color come through in some parts but not in others, or did you paint him a neutral color first? The multilayered color is amazing but I can't tell where the different layers of airbrushing begin and end. Still though, fantastic job! You should probably be selling these on eBay.

Your skill with an airbrush is commendable. Beautiful work.
