Several folks have been asking me about the ideas I have for Hench, so I thought I would put some pics up to show what I'm doing to the poor little guy...

It has always struck me how tiny his thighs are, and I could see some spare room in his alt mode, so I started looking at how to pad things out. By adding a section into the thighs, I have to also add an equal section above the hip, in order for everything to stay in the right position in alt mode. I don't mind that because it adds even more height overall. There was space to extend the thighs even further, but he starts to look too lanky if I'm not careful since the thighs can't be any thicker than they already are.

Ignore the rest, because what I'm planning to do is enlarge his chest, bulk up his arms, and probably give him a new head (it's a great stock head but it's too small really).

The styrene parts you see are rough versions to plan things out, I will be putting some detail there too :)

It's crazy how much a little styrene changes him for the better. Looking forward to seeing the finished article!

    You giving him articulated hands?

    Thanks guys! :thumb
Cheers :)  Not sure what hands he'll be getting yet, but definitely not those stock blocks!
Thanks, early days yet, I'm happy so far. Actually G60Force mine doesn't have 2 right hands. What you're probably seeing is the upper shoulder with the angled bit to the inside - that's just a deliberately mistransformed upper arm, as I prefer having a squared-off shoulder on the outside rather than angled down. Besides, I'll be messing with the arms anyway at some point!

Some progress on the chest. I'm not keen on the way Hench's torso is 'v' shaped, so I'm going back to G1 toon basics...

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Had to cut a load off his stock chest to make room for my new piece.

    Hey OT!
Super-sweet work so far on your little ( but not so little anymore ) BRAWN!!

I've been away from the customizing scene for a bit due to life's circumstances but can now get back to it & thought I might pick up again by finishing my own Hench/Brawn mods!

I was wondering, if you wouldn't mind sharing that is, what the dimensions are of the added styrene sections you made for the waist & thighs? I love the way you did those & would like to do the same to mine to bring him up to Deluxe height to fit in with my CHUG stuff! :D

On a side note, something you may wanna consider since you were talking about modding the arms, is givin him some new hands like these:

Found these little gems on HLJ's site! I'll fire ya a linkie if ya want? just a thought!

    Cheers!

Thanks dude! My extra styrene in the thighs ended up being about 7.5mm high, and it was only that because that was what I got from layering several pieces of styrene together. You can go with more (to make him taller) or less depending on the look you want.

I have actually got those hands, recommended to me in a thread about Art Feather Bumblebee. Haven't used them yet, and they're going to be a bit small/skinny for my bulked-up Brawn I think. He was always the bare-hand brute force Autobot, so I want some nice chunky hands for him.

Love how yours looks with the foot mod! The figure is quite back-heavy and it would be nice to find a way to do something similar, but I think I'll leave it til last and see if he still needs it after all my messing.

Funny, but Brawn was my first ever kitbash attempt back in 2009 from a Roadbot Hummer figure. He even had the G1-face on-back-of-head gimmick!

I've already cannibalised the chest just for those rounded parts. The head is too big and a bit messy, but the hands might work.

Shame it was such a crappy base figure and my skills were very primitive. Back then I was posting on TFormers, the thread/gallery is still there! Custom MP/Alt Brawn by Optimus Timelord - TFormers Community
