She was holding a box set of real gears... a voyager ironhide... and eyeing a voyager starscream...

Figured she was shopping for kid/grandkids (bingo)

Explained to her that the voyagers were probably the best bet at happy kids..

and how they were cool.. but may be hard to transform depending on how old they were cause they may possibly break them . (especially iron hide)

Kids were 7 (maybe twins?) She dropped the real gears box and went for the 2 voyagers.. but i left before she did.. probably still contemplating whether or not to get the 2 last ones.

A 7 year old could definitely transform them... right?

Personally, I would have said Real Gears were a better idea. Kids love role play type stuff.

Yeah, I think they could figure them out. Ironhide was a bit tricky... (had to have RW transform mine at Botcon... >_< ) but Starscream's a no-brainer.

Wow, talk about raining on his good-deed parade. :lol

Very nice of you to help out :)

I saw a grandma and her grandson (I assume) in front of the shelves of movie toys at TRU. I was dying to help as they just couldn't make up their mind.

I started inching towards them very casually so that she wouldn't think I was a perv or something (well I had my kids with me anyway, but you'll never know), then just when I was alomst there I heard her saying, "Well none of these look very nice anyway" And they were gone.

    :Gouki:

Anyway, Real Gears are easy and fun and my 8 year old can't transform the only Voyager I have (Ironhide), even though he can TF Alt Nemesis.
But I think kids can still be happy with their own big Transformers. They'll fiddle around and end up something similar to robot modes :D

    lol.

The only reason i didn't quickly suggest the real gears was because she said they already had some.. I don't know real gears, so i couldn't tell if what she bought was already what they had... she said that one of them was as sensor.. and when you walk by it trips and beeps or something.. and she said they were so happy about it... I don't know.. I didn't want them to get duplicates =D

    The perv comment was hilarious

The biggest issue that my son (6 years old) has is losing parts like doors, wings and missiles.

I will not buy him anything bigger than a deluxe until I know he will take better care of his stuff, or able to transform it with our ripping it apart.

It was nice of you to help them though!

Ladies lucky she wasn't looking for Hotwheels, she probably would have got pushed down so some fat freak could get his mystery car.

Kudos to you sir, and kudos again.

One time I was in the TF section and a Gramma told me her grand-son wanted some kind of robot scorpion and I helped her find Energon Scorponok. This was a few years back.
