    Hey guys,

Looking for some help for a photo noob ;)

I'm trying to get better at taking photos of my toys (and in general actually). I've built myself a light box with 3 light sources, and photos don't seem to be coming out badly as a rule... as long as the subjects are light, or the colours are bright. Cases in point:

Not as amazing as some that we see on here, but we're getting there with a little light manipulation in Photoshop (my favourite is the Thunderwing one ;) ).

However I'm having real problems with more drab colours. I tried some shots taking photos of Universe Hardhead and just could NOT get the colours to look anything other than dirty. Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong? I've tried adjusting the white balance on the camera, and tried fiddling with the aperture etc., but nothing seems to work. If it helps I'm using a Fuji S1000fd camera.

    Cheers!

    Jon

using an slr or dslr? Those camera take a picture of what you see with brillant colors.

    Exposure adjustments help.

Can't afford an SLR camera mate ;)  It's not quite point and click (more options than that!) but certainly not as good as those cameras.

Hmm, done some experiments... how does this look to people? (aside from the edges of the lightbox, haha)

It looks good. A little help comes in the form of photoshop and gamma adjustments and levels:
