I bought some of the fakebusker guns. I got the megatron shotgun. the medium one and the large one.

fakebusker had suggested either sharpies or water colors.

I am not an artist in the least. any advice?

I've yet to try this, but I've read sealing them with Future Floor polish (self leveling clear acrylic) actually helps level out the rough suface produced by shapeways 3D printing. From there, I'd suggest picking up some metallic hobby paints and going to town. Some metallic pens work OK, but the finish looks off to my eyes, having seen what a good metallic paint can do.

I was worried about roughness too, but i actually think it makes them look good. kind of like the gun is beaten up already.

I painted mine just like I paint my TFs, using Testors acrylics...
