In G1. Dinobot Slag. (Cartoon, toy, and comics)
His deal is breathing fire right?
And i don't mean: Is he capable to breath fire y/n.

That was his thing, wasn't it?
Hook was worried about perfection, Thundercracker makes sonic-booms, Brawn was Slagin' strong, cliffjumper and he's glass gas fixation, Mindwipe used magic, etc....slag breaths fire hotter than anyone else?

Slag's deal was that he was a violent sociopath amongst the good guys.

That said, all of the Dinobots could breathe fire though Slag was apparently the best at it.

I think his function was "Flamethrower"....I'll have to check out the resource section to be sure.

Edit: Yep, that was his function. Like ECR said all the Dinos were shown to be able to breate fire but Slag must have been the best at it

If that's specific enough, he was the only robotic firebreathing triceratops around.

    Grimlock: me leader!
    Sludge: me stomp foot!
Snarl: i has fins! *shoots bolts from tail*
slag: me slag use hot sauce for tooth paste *blorgh*
    swoop: i has wings!

Slag psychophatic tendencies was highlighted in a late UK comic where optimus inspection of earthforce coincided with slags dinorobot raging PMS, played for laughs. This is also why as exemplified in his argument with grimlock in TFTM86 slag as the most combative member in a bunch of recalcitrants.

    Right!

Slag is notable for being one of the few Autobots despicable and violent enough to pass for Decepticon.

Technically, according to the old Tech Specs, Slag was the ONLY Dinobot who was supposed to breath fire, but the cartoon added firebreathing to all of them, as well as weird disintegrator beams, just for the hell of it.... which I didn't like so much because it takes away some of what makes Slag special.

It also, presumably, is easier to draw and animate. That way they dinos could shoot things without needing to transform or unfold new weapons.

For another example of how the Cartoon screwed up stuff like that, note how Frenzy is not only the wrong colour, but is given EXACTLY the same piledriver powers as Rumble. I guess they decided it would be too much effort to give him something of his own.

No, Slag's deal is that he apparently offends a lot of British people with his name. That's why he hangs out at Maccadam's with his new drinking buddy; Spastic.

I don't know if I was just too innocent but I never connected the character name with the use as an insult, on the other hand if they ever had made planetformers including Uranus....

Heh, slag isn't a terribly offensive word, but it is funny. Spastic is pretty much one of the most offensive things to call a disabled person, since the 80s.

I don't really recall anyone being offended by a robot called Slag.

I used to find it hilarious as a kid! And the way 'slag' was used as a kind of expletive exclamation in the comics and tv show.

I've never really grown up so I still find it funny now.

Does the Spastic thing have to be brought up at every opportunity?

Besides, I think the word 'slag's currency as an offensive word has weakened in the last few years. It now has a jovial quality, and is more frequently applied to both genders (I often hear the phrase 'man-slag' bandied about).

Not being from the UK, obviously "Slag" to me just means melted waste metal, and I always thought it was a cool and appropriate name. Kind of drag that a legitimate word ends up being largely unusable due to being corrupted in informal use.

But then I suppose that could go for a lot of words. I was going to throw out an impromptu list of things that popped into my mind, but it started to sound too puerile. :lol

And later itch. Especially when he's out with his pals Slut and Slapper. Meeting up later with Skank Ho and Warty. DinoBints Unite!

I don't think Slag as a name ever bothered me when I was a nipper. It was obvious to any kid with half a brain why he was called that.
Maybe Hasbro should've just called him TriceraTorch.

    Yay! Stick-bundle party! :D

Didn't the original meaning of "slut" just indicate "slovenly"?

Or "Scorch", if they wanted to keep up the Dinobot "single-syllable/starts-with-S" pattern.

Not to nit-pick (I suddenly feel like Sto), but did Swoop ever breath fire in the cartoon? I wouldn't think it would be too helpful for him since it would just blow back in his face while he was flying and burn his optics.
