I want to play FF 12, but my platstation 2 died...so I would have to buy a new one. I REALLY want to buy a Wii with zelda on launch day/night.

I liked ff7, despise 8 and ten, kinda liked 9 but gave up eventually because of the storyline...but I simply love ff6. (3 in u.s.)

If you where to buy one...what would it be?

I would get a Wii but then again I really like FF7 and they are remaking it for the PS3 so if you have the means pick up a PS3.

They are? I thought that was just a test to show off the graphics...pretty sure about that.

If you get a Wii and slim ps2, it'd be cheaper than a PS3.. just sayin' ;)

God... THEY ARE NOT REMAKING FF7. It was NEVER confirmed. The only FF game confirmed for the PS3 was FF13 and FF13 Versus (which must be played with FF13 PSP, and FF13 Cell phone game for the complete story). The producers said they would LIKE to remake FF7, but it would take them too long. Squenix might have whored out the FF7 name with Dirge of Cerebus and Advent Children, but they're not going to remake an old game when they could make whole new games.

Was it confirmed like your PS3 preorder at GameStop was? You might want to look at this thread...

You better call them and see what's up.

eyeballkid, get a Wii. It's the right choice for your money. Hell, even a 360 would be ok.

I'd say grab a Wii and Zelda right now, if that's what you really want. Then maybe for the upcoming Holiday's, see about getting a replacement PS2. I can see a PS2 sale going on shortly to clear out stock.

    As for FF...

I feel FF7 is the single most overrated game in the history of videogames. I played it through. It was alright, nothing special. On the other hand, I absolutely loved FF8, and it's my favorite FF game to date. Really enjoyed the characters in that one more than any other FF. 9 I never finished. I got completely bored of it after a few days. 10 is probably my 2nd favorite.

It'd help to know what you thought of past Zeldas and your current financial situation. But without that...

There are two games you want on two different systems.

One game you have had mixed experiences with, and to be able to play it would require you to either buy an obsolete console, or part with $500-600 to get the newest one (if you can even find it).

The other game you can obtain for either a new system or an old one. If you opt for the new system, it will run you $250, and should be easier to obtain.

No matter which game you buy, in 12 months you'll be able to get the second for $20-$30 as part of some "Gamer's Choice" line.

Honestly, I don't see the problem. Get the Wii.

    Get the Wii and Zelda.

The PS2 still has life in it, but at this point I wouldn't bother buying one. I would also think that the PS2 would get a price drop as soon as Sony is able to keep up their production of PS3s.

So will your next one. Borrow a friend's PS2 to play FF XII or wait for PS2 emulation on PC to get good enough to play it. PS2 emulation is coming along nicely, so hold on to your PS2 games and hold off on buying the system again.

Mine died a few months ago. Thinking about trying to fix it again. Runs but won't read discs. This is my second one that's done this. Pisses me off. I waited so long for FF12, and when it finally comes out, my PS2 doesn't work.

My PS2's still working...but won't play the "blue bottomed" discs anymore :(

Which sucks, as Romance of the Three Kingdoms is one of my favorite games, and on a Blue disc.

It still plays everything else, just not the blue discs. Luckily only a handful of the games I own are blue's. I figure at this point replacing the system is pointless. I haven't really touched it in over a year.
