bah weep grana weep ninibon. long time lurker first time post, nice to meet ya'll. i'm hoping you can help me with g1 megatron? he's different than other megs in that he fires bullets (red plastic pellets), has no hasbro stamping on him at all, and no manufactured date. it simply reads "takara" and "made in japan." i thought perhaps he was from the microman line.. but microman didn't use the decepticon logo. and if u take a look at the second pic, there's a mark where a sticker used to be oddly resembling the decept logo. here are some pics: but nice to meet everyone and thanks in advance. - KO
I'm not sure. Looks to me like just a loose re-issue Megatron sans accessories and decals. *shrug* Maybe other's will know?
We don't understand your dialect. Were you going for "Bah weep graaagnah wheep ni ni bong"? Maybe you're a Decepticon spy!
If there's no Hasbro stamp, then it's Japanese of course. Now the question is, is it G1? Goodbye Megs? Re-issue? And if so, which one?
We'd need to see more pictures, including the accessories, robot mode, and closeups of any identifying marks.
who said anything about being autobot? excuse the typo, just my south-cybertronian twang, ya heard? but as for IDing this guy, he actually came in the Microman Walther P38 U.N.C.L.E. package... and yes, one would then normally assume that the Megs is from the UNCLE giftset, but that wouldn't explain the faded decepticon logo... everything in my being wants to believe that this is a legit UNCLE Megatron... but that logo just throws me off.. so confusing... i'll take some better pics later after work... if there are any surefire giveaways id'ing one megs from the next, lemme know and i'll focus my lens there. - KO
The indentations on the side of the gun say it is the ORGINAL G1 Megatron, which original I think it was U.N.C.L.E...
That's what I was thinking. None of the pictures are coming up for me. My reissue has a Takara,Hasbro and a year stamped on it. So this could be a legit Microman, or a Knockoff.
Well, I'm probably wrong, but IIRC, the G1 version of Megs didn't actually fire plastic bullets, which would make this pre-date Transformers. The packaging and inserts seem to support this. The only thing that tosses doubt at that theory is the faded Decepticon sticker, but that could easily have been added later.
The US G1 version didn't fire the bullets, but the Japanese version sure did. Of course, the Japanese versions weren't chromed at all until the reissues. Nor did they include the attachments (other than the scope on Goodbye and VSX) so it has to be either one of the reissues or the UNCLE...
bingo. found out yesterday that this is a legit uncle megs. im super stoked! thanks everyone for all yer help! - KO
$180 shipped. Box is in good condition as well as all the other fold-outs/catalogs, and Acroyear target dummies! It also has the clear plastic sheet covering the styro. Only thing missing is like a sprue of missiles, but the one included is all intact. (^-^) I thought it was a pretty good deal...
Not bad at all m8! I picked an MC-13 up about a year ago, for a little less (the box was a bit tatty).
