Here is the deal, I have been casually been collection since around the end of the beast wars era, I've always wanted to get a G1 Optimus but they have been so expensive.

My brother found this in a comic shop and bought it for me. After finding this site and a couple others I found out there have been many different releases of G1 Optimus and now I'm confused as which one this is.

Between the Short stacks and the year 1992 written on the trailer I have no clue which version he is.

I'm happy to own it, and I know it needs cleaning, which I didn't realize until I saw these pictures but, I want to know which version he is.

    Please help.

I have got with a co-worker to get these pictures and they were pretty big so I have cropped them and re-sized them. If you want a bigger picture please click the picture I have linked the re-sized to the full versions.

If you need any other specific pictures to help figure it out let me know, I'll get them.

Could be that 25th anniversary version judging from the stamped on Autobot symbols

That is the 25th anniversary reissue. It also had a dvd and a comic in the box with it.

25th Anniversary with a fair bit of play wear for not even being 4 years old. The sticker sheet is from the Encore 01 release however.

Yeah, edited. Brain clicked on the sticker sheet and I forgot about everything else.

Yeah this certainly looks like a mix and match set. The short stacks is a sure mark for being an American re-issue release.

Now you guys see my problem?

    Isn't there more than 1 re-issue?

    So:

Optimus: Universe 25th Anniversary (2008) or Commemorative Series Optimus Prime (2002)
Trailer: Original Optimus Prime Re-Issue (1990)
    Stickers: Encore Convoy (2007) JP

Looking at the Transformer Wiki these are the closest ones I can find to the ones you are referring to. Does this sound about right? I can't seem to find any re-issue that was released around 1992.

Can anyone with the 25th anniversary look at the copyright on their trailer to see what year it says?

Only the 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime has the printed logos and the short smoke stack combination. The red plastic is a little pinkish too.

All reissues' trailers are stamped 1992.

I am not too sure about the sticker sheet. It looks like one of Takara's, but sometimes Hasbro uses Takara sticker sheets.

I don't think they'd use one with Japanese on it.

Didn't Commerative Series Hoist even came with a Japanese bio card?

Not aware of that, but could be possible since he was at the tail end of the re-releases, but given Prime's constant re-release, I would find it strange if Hasbro suddenly put in the Japanese stickers instead of the traditional US one.

Check the date stamp on the right shoulder of the cab opposite the smoke stack. My 25th is marked 81891. My trailer is doubling as a display stand so I can't confirm, but that may indeed be the 25th Hasbro release.

    Ebay:
This made me go to the resource section...which had nothing on it that I could find. Is it there? 25th anniversary (pinky) prime.

People over exaggerate the color of red on the 25th anniversary G1 Prime. He's a lighter loror of red. A little of an orange tone to it. But it's not pink.

No, the trailer is from the 25th Anniversary set. I have the same "82211" stamp on mine.

I have the box with the sticker sheet in the garage, but I'll take someone's word on it that the sticker sheet is the same one used on the Encore. Both were released within a year, so that makes some sense.

Again though, I have to say... this toy has really gotten it's playtime in. Quite a bit of wear and paint chipping for just under 4 years.
