Yes, I know this topic might have been beaten to death :deadhorse:

    But I need your help!

So far the only MUST HAVE in HENKEI version seems to be...

    Megatron!

Besides Megatron which other Henkei versions could you not live without?

Prime for me. I know some are happy with the classics version, but he's just too iconic to not be perfect. Other notable mentions are Astrotrain and Hot Rod.

Also, if you'd like to see pictures, there's a nice thread here by Trailbreaker77 who has taken time to compare them. The thread is very picture heavy though, which is not necessarily a bad thing. :)

I actually agree with you, Code. Megatron is so far the only Henkei I have. That purple and green weren't cutting it. Not for Megatron.

I really don't need exact, to the 'T', G1 colors. Hasbro's naturally kept things close enough that I don't mind a slight re-design. And I've yet to feel it absolutely necessary that I need to have a TakaraTomy $20+ figure over a $10 and under Hasbro.

That said, I might be going for that Ratchet.

Anyway, if its really that important, aside from Megatron, I'd suggest Astrotrain for their G1 color scheme. Even though space shuttles aren't completely black, it is easy the most off of just about any Classics figure yet.

Must have Henkei ... well, there's Astrotrain, and ... that's pretty much it.

... maybe Thundercracker and the upcoming Dirge and Thrust, if you don't have Botcon '07 toys.

Astrotrain and Megatron are the real standouts.

I'm also going after Cyclonus, Ironhide and Hound.

i picked up Henkei Megatron [still keeping the Classics one though]. also got the Henkei Astrotrain so that i could have both G1 color schemes -- show [Henkei] and toy [Classics].

aside from that, i just got myself Henkei Hot Rodimus [but only as a Hot Rod-themed birthday gift] and am considering Skyfire, but only if one pops up for REALLY cheap [so i can have him in both his G1 show colors and Stormbringer colors]. beyond this, i'm also considering Sunstreaker but only because i'm getting my Classics Sunstreaker turned into Tigertrack. oh, and Ironhide. the rest [Mirage, Grimlock, Bumblebee] are fairly meh.

A second vote for Onslaught. He's too awesome pearly blue to miss.

Spend a second thought on Mirage, Convoy, Streak and Sunstreaker; all are sufficiently better than their Classics\Universe Versions. Then there's Hound...Cyclonus...Ironhide, and then you understand why I've switched over completely to Henkei.

I like henkei over classic/universe in ever release except for grimlock. But I rather have henkei every time. Plus the boxart is badass

    All of them.

Right now I have most of them minus Jetfire, Octane, Onslaught, Silverbolt, and Powerglide, but plan on getting them during my upcoming TF drought when Universe is on hiatus.

I think the only real MUST-have Henkei is Astrotrain. That mold just takes on a whole new appeal when done in a dark color scheme.

Honorable mentions would be Megatron, Sunstreaker, Onslaught, and Starscream.

I disagree with the votes for Rodimus. I guess the Henkei version is more faithfully G1, but in my humble opinion the U.S. version looks less gaudy and FAR classier without the orange hood and gold spoiler.

(On a personal note, I also REALLY like Henkei Powerglide, Grimlock and Jetfire.... but I think I'm in the minority there, and that most people would probably prefer the U.S. versions of those three, so I didn't put them on the list).

I have to say all of them, as I think the look, paint apps and general appeal are superior of every one of the figures (yes, even Grimmers! There! I said it!!)

But, I'm guessing you're referring more to those with drastically improved visual appeal, so I'll go for:
    1) Megatron
    2) Astrotrain
    3) Skywarp
    4) Prowl
    5) Sunstreaker

And the upcoming Ironhide, Ratchet... oh heck, just go Henkei. You won't regret it.

The best of Henkei over Hasbro, in order would have to be: Astrotrain, Megatron, Sunstreaker, Onslaught, and Prime. You could put Powerglide in that list too, only because they painted him red.

i dont have a problem with classics megs because most of the decepticons have purple in their colors.(octane, stormcloud, galvatron, devastator, skywarp, henkei astrotrain)
yes the classics megs isnt g1 colors but it does blend well with the others.

the henkei i would say is a must have is astrotrain.
