Sorry for the double post ( I posted it in the sticky) but I think it would get more reads here. I bought a G1 Optimus Prime recently from a physical seller, meaning I went to the person's house and saw the figure. Now, I am super aware of the differences between a re-issue OP and an original, but not a counterfeit. Well, I bought the figure and was really excited but on my way home I was thinking to myself, "Wow the chrome is really nice." It raised a little doubt in my mind whether this was a knock-off / counterfeit or not, so when I got home I compared the "G1" cab to my G2 cab. Besides the more purpling and the autobot stamp of G2, everything was the same except the G2 gun did not fit the fists of the "G1" and the silver trim sticker did not wrap all the way into the back of the cab. The trailer stamp looks just like , but with a small 2 to the right of the "T." (just in case the picture does not come up click on Mark of the Takara-crazysteve's stampings collection it is Crazysteve's "Mark of the Takara" under Optimus Prime #1) It came from an adult collector so maybe they purchased it unknowingly at a convention (she told me that's where she bought him).
This is a good information thread: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...prime-original-vs-reproduction-revisited.html
I had a discussion over at transformerland regarding this. What was suggested was that the following parts could be different: - front grill, space between bumper and engine mesh. - front drive train, wheel rivets. - head base, gap and peg to fix position in robot mode. - copy stamp, underside of the trailer. - Gas pump, hose and nozzle. Check out the thread, but the above is the gist of it. Transformerland.com :: View topic - Prime time thread - please read message #1
from what Ive seen the older ones were marked made in france but it was very obvious so the koers changed it up.
Yeah, I read about that one but mine has just "Japan" not "Made in Japan." Can anyone see if their g2 guns fits the fists of g1?
