Ok, so on a bit of an impulse (maybe it's the long weekend coming up that got to me) I decided to bid on this auction on eBay.

Some guy sent me a message saying that it's not authentic. He didn't elaborate just that the seller didn't send him more pictures of the back and so he concluded it not to be an original. I looked at the auctions pics and compared it to the AFA 85 MISB Optimus Prime that was recently purchased and it looks the same.

Also this one looks like it has the full trademark language unlike the ones being sold on eBay by gemsperation from Thailand. In a previous thread it was discussed that those ones may or may not be real.

So if all you G1 experts out there can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Is this the real deal or what?

Thanks UC. Not that I question your authority (esp since I am no expert), but could you elaborate as to why you believe it is an original from 1984? Does anyone else agree or disagree?

It's real. It doesn't have any of the tells of the counterfeit.

For example, on the counterfeit there is a thick gray border between the top of the trailer and the black/red grid pattern. That's not present here.

Hey thanks for providing your insught. Based on other members feedback and posts, it sounds like you are one of a few authorities out there on this stuff. Are there any other signs that point to this being authentic?

    It's real.

But I want to warn all of you about this seller and his partner!

I have only reported 2 people to ebay for shill bidding, and these 2 are the guys!

His partners name is mrfixcar! Both from Florida, probably brothers?

Check their feedback, and notice the feedbacks from these 2.

The 0 feedback bidder, that has only bid on this auction in the last 30 days, bid $975. You would have won it for $800. The reason mrfixcar didn't bid is because I reported these 2 to ebay. So he made a new account to shill bid. Who opens an account, and just bids on a MISB Optimus Prime, and nothing else?!:inquisiti

Also, I think this would only get an AFA 70/75 if graded, because of the price sticker removal damage. If you are not considering completing the deal.

Trust me on this one, the item is real, but the seller is a fake!
