I know there's a guide for getting pins out, but I'm just not getting it. I have pretty much no experience in kitbashing, I'm just using a hammer and a setting nail like the guide said. I've even got another guy trying to keep the toy steady so we can hammer it out, but we're getting nowhere (according to the guide, we should feel the pin moving immediately?). Any advice ?

I concur with Redline. That pin was a thumb-muncher to get out (I hit my thumb with the hammer so many times it wasn't funny!)

Just keep trying and don't take any crap from an inanimate object :)

my friend thinks a dremmel would take the pins right out, but since the pin removal guide doesnt say anything about that, I'm not entirely sure. Is he right?

I went with the hammering route, that particular pin has a lot of groove on one side, so it really took forever to get it out, but keep hammering at it, it's moving even though you don't think so

Those are the knurls. They're meant to keep the pin from coming out. You're supposed to knock the pin out from the other side. And then you can just yank it out with a pair of pliers once you've got a bit of the pin sticking out.

I did hammer it from the other side, and even then it was a long process, by the time I got enough of it out to use a plier to pull the pin, it was an effort and a half.

Man this was the WORST pin I've had to struggle with on this guy. Good luck :lol

Just dont give up man, it'll eventually come out, and you'll feel fu**ing awesome afterwards for doing it. Treat it like a 2$ whore!
The soldering iron trick would'nt work on mine, it barely even helped. But it helped a little and that was fortunately enough to work with. BUT IT TOOK FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol

If you can just get it to stick out just enough to grab with something, then you're all good

I got my pin out with relative ease, no hammer, just grunting.

Then I put it back in.

Now I can't get it out again, even with smalle clamp serving as a press.

Megatron is always foiling my plans!

how? to drill out the hole? or cut a gash? I say hell no on the dremel, you'll only deface or lose structural integrity.

well, I went ahead and did the dremeling before anyone replied, but ultimately I'd say it turned out alright.

It's a bit knicked, yes, but

I'd say it isn't too noticable, and gun mode still works fine.

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q171/abroguy/gunmotron/gunmotron2.jpg this is what it looked like before the dremeling. The only difference is a missing nub. I'm satisfied with it.
