Thought instead of showing off some of my recent pieces of dodgy work, i'd show off an older one that i'm much more proud of.

Hecatomb is intended to be a bit of a genocidal warlord in the Decepticon Empire. Not the sort of bot you'd want to meet really.

A bit of influence came from War Hammer 40K, so much so I incorporated a number of WH40K parts (along with Zoids, Lego, and a few other things).

The figure it's self is actually the KO version of Armada Megatron. A fairly good KO actually and I felt a little bad using him as he was the only one I had, but in the end I didn't regret it one bit.

This was also my first try at dirtying up a TF with wild crazy spraying. As far as characterisation goes I feel it fits him perfectly. He's been gone for Cybertron for a long time, lots of fighting, resources running thin, cleaning himself up isn't exactly a high priority.

I know i've copped a lot of flack from other places where i've shown him off because some people are of the belief that TF's should be clean and even shiney. I disagree. They're machines of war, at the very least they should have a matte finish. Hecatomb I went a bit further and INTENDED for him to be dirtied up.

The other thing I wanted to do was give him a flag banner. This was the biggest pain in the arse for me as i'd never done anything like it before. I tried straight poles, but didn't like it, so then I went with the chain theme and got a piece of chain and GLUED all the links. Took me forever to get them all locked into place.

Then came the banner it's self. Again, never done anything like it before so I had no idea what to do. I was going with the idea of screen printing it onto a piece of fabric. Then I talked to a WH customiser who made it simple when she said "why don't you just print it on a thicker piece of paper, burn the edges, then dirty it up?" .... Simple and worked like a charm!

So yeah, this is Hecatomb. One of my more prouder pieces of work. For more pics and babblings of him check him out here (though it's not actually working at the moment)

This is awesome man!!...I really am diggin' this :D

I can see the Warhammer influence in it too. You did a great job on this one. I agree with the "TF's should look dirty and grimy" statement, especially if that is there character...I went with this theme on my Alt Wrecker.

    Fabulous work Dilborg :thumb

looks awesome weird in my opinion someone would give you grief over it being beaten and worn its a tank for frogs sake not a Lamborghini or something flashy like that. i understand why idarkdesign said steampunk but i don't see it .not enough stylized metal or gears to be steampunk. looks very Goth warrior to me with all the chains and skulls and i think thats the point. any ways awesome work thanks for posting

Ahh, Hec was always a cool one. As I recall, didn't the chainsaw come from one of those little Robot Wars-style pullback robots? I'm sure I've got a few of them lying around somewhere.

I like the idea of having him double as a Chaos MBT in a 40K game, as well... :ev:

What's up with the website, do you know? I hope it's only a temporary sitch; I've lost a lot of material before when my webhost went out of business, and it sucks lots.

It was! I remember quite well of how it was taken apart. I gave it to my then 18 month old nephew who dropped it and it instantly came apart. :lol

Must have been a temporary thing as it's back up now and i've updated the link.

I shouldn't have any problems with loss as I have a copy on my hard drive AND my external backup hard drive. It's the pain of going through and reuploading everything that would be annoying.

As a KO it's a remarkably good KO. Loose parts were easily fixed with a screwdriver, and it had a whole new head and gun. It's why I felt bad about using him because he actually could almost have passed for a genuine TF.
