This custom is based on the Transformers Evolutions comic book "Hearts of Steel", issue 4, where the Autobots and Decepticon factions are awoken in the 19th century and take on vehicle modes befitting that time period. One such Decepticon, Scourge, took on the vehicle mode of a zeppelin to thrash his autobot enemies in an airborne assault.

Scourge is fully transformable and comes with the zeppelin balloon, which can be hung from a ceiling for the full "death from above" effect.

This was the winner of the Procustomizers.com steampunk contest. Many thanks to the guys over there for organising the contest and the kind words :)

    Modifications
    - extensive internal modifications, allowing shoulders to extend out and rotate on a ball joint
    - head can extend up/forwards to clear the collar and again, ball jointed for posability
    - replaced brick-former thighs with ball joints for more dynamic positioning
    - split at waist, connected by double ball joint for twisting to the sides and up/down
    - bicep and wrist swivel joints added
    - grinded down the chest for a more rounded appearance
    - grinding away excess plastic around the waist to give less of a 'chunky monkey' look
    - engines cut off and replaced with towers and steampunk engines made out of styrene
    - styrene built up for armour cladding
    - styrene 3D insignia
    - apoxy sculpt ornate decoration along the bow
    - custom gatling gun (more styrene...) to fit the head or hand
    - lots and lots of rivet holes hand drilled

    Balloon
    - Made from foam, using lots of filler, gesso primer and sanding
    - styrene fins
    - paintbrush cut down and used for the ramming spike
    - string attaches to the ramming spike and a rear spike so it can be hung from the ceiling
    - Five magnets on scourge attach to screws in the base of the balloon (I love attaching him, he just clicks nicely into place and it's strong enough to hold him, but not difficult to remove)

Yeah, I thought the same :)  Maybe I shouldn't show the alt-mode pics of the gondola upside down as it just begs comparison.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. Six comments out of seven views must mean I've done something right ;)

Well, it's not a bad thing really... an ironing appliance could be a good disguise just like Soundwave's taperecorder mode.

    Either way, great custom.

heck yea, now you can say he's triple changer. He turns from giant death dealing robot, or giant death dealing blimp, to tiny death dealing iron (well death if your a wrinkle anyway)

FYI when I saw that title my brain jumped scourge as in RID Scourge (aka nemesis prime), and I thought I was going to be looking at redeco the HOS prime mold that came out a few years back.

great work on going someplace completely different

Great stuff. As a history teacher, I really liked that story, and that figure will fit right in with the 3rd party HOS stuff that's out there. Beautiful paint work

    That. Is. Awesome!!

Love it... somehow G1 Scourge's bearded face really fits well with this whole aesthetic and design. I also like the use of fine details in all the right places. The overall design is simple and economical, but with just the right amount of impressive detailing. The blimp alt-mode came as a surprise, but it's BRILLIANT.

As for looking like an iron... don't worry. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing at all. It just shows you've captured the aesthetic of an age. When it comes down to it, irons are pretty sweet objects, especially to base a Vernian war machine on!
