But everyone knows who he is talking about. I prefer sticking to the western names...

The only character, where it really matters is Ginrai, because he is not Optimus Prime. But anyone else?

I knew who he was talking about, but not that the new Shout DVD's used the western names.

And the way he worded the statement it seemed he was talking about the actual Japanese release.

    Anyway, lets drop it.

They also seem to call Scorponok "Scroponok" sometimes. There are some lazy typos.

I think the issue is that Cerebros was such a non-entity in the western continuity that giving him a name that actually implies he HAD a personality of his own would've been more appropriate in this context.

In the US they call the leader Rodimus or Rodimus Prime, but in Japan they call him Prime/Convoy why cant they call him Rodimus, and since when Ravage, Ratbat, Lazerbeak, Steeljaw talk?

Did he really talk? I just remember him barely growling "right" when the two workers speak and say "something wrong, real wrong" and then when he escapes from the autobot headquarters and gets into sondwave he PLAYS the information to megatron but does not really talk he PLAYS the info with the help of soundwave.

Now on the comics i clearly know He speaks since the first issue.

The bit where here's in cassette mode in Soundwave with the line that starts, "The Rocket Base is xxx miles from the Autobot camp..." Its Welker that speaks the line, but in a constant pitch that's higher than his Megatron and isn't any of his other characters -- so its typically credited as a spoken line by Ravage.

Given that most of the show's conventions weren't in place during MTMTE, flying Autobots n' such, I'm willing to accept it as Ravage talking.

...I really don't understand your first question, not in the slightest; so I'll just break it down like this:

    US > Japan
    Optimus Prime > Convoy
    Hot Rod > Hot Rodimus
    Rodimus Prime > Rodimus Convoy

    Why? *shrug*

As for the cassettes talking, it probably had something to do with the Japanese audience and how well or poorly they were received as characters without voiced lines.

I get Your point and I also understand that script had a "line" for ravage, however one thing is Reproducing a sound and another is actually talking, buses and trains PLAY a voice to inform passengers of next stop but it does not really mean they talk.

But again I guess all of this is part of the plot holes the series had, because later on for the movie laserbeak, that in the comics also clearly speak, just "plays" his spy beats but wont talk (when he could have said..."they are about to launch a ship to erath to get more energon).

Maybe they did not think of this before and they thought it made sense that being a spy that turns into a recording device that is somewhat linked to his "Media player" he could only reproduce his "speaking" through soundwave.
