Going to new york city this weekend for business/pleasure. Although I've gone down there already a few times (last time this past march) it'll be my first trip alone. Any suggestions for stuff to do while I'm down there in my free time? I've pretty much been to all of the "sites" numerous times.

NYC can get so boring :(  and it is so crowded. I like to go to South Street seaport. It is really nice over there by the pier. That is probably my favorite spot in the city besides the Times Square Toys R' Us I love that big T-Rex they have!

Eh, what do Long Island people know. :D

Jk, I live in Bayside Queens.

But anyway, what interests do you have besides TF? There's ALWAYS something to do. The Intrepid is cool if you're into ships.

What else are you interested in?

Well, there's Apple's new 32-foot glass cube on Fifth Avenue, if 32-foot glass cubes are your thing. It's pretty cool to see at night, even if it is a rip-off of the Louvre and serves a company I can't stand.

How about some restaurants? NYC's one of the few places where you can get practically any kind of cuisine 24/7.

Good suggestions all around. I've been to many of those places although not the cube land nor have I been to the nintendo store yet actually. I'll be eating at plenty of restaurants though. Thanks!

    Well, I'm back.

The trip consisted of mostly business and checking out brooklyn for residential reasons but I did see some stuff (botanical garden, brooklyn museum of art, prospect park). Ate at some great restaurants (greek, italian, etc); ate octopus for the first time.

I left the office for a walk monday to go get something to eat and I just ended up walking downtown in front of the courts to kill some time when I saw a big "Thank you Spiderman" event going on which I thought was odd. I sat on the bench for a bit, then walked around and then spiderman walked by me. I was all "WTF" until I noticed that they were filming spiderman 3 there. I decided to watch them film for a bit, saw spiderman get lowered upside-down and stuff, them blow up a newstand, and saw Topher Grace sitting around as they were auditioning some female foozies for extras.

That in itself made the trip worth it.

I would love to check it out sometime, but too fearful of getting lost to go it alone.

I've never been but supposedly it is REQUIRED that you eat a hot dog whilst there, so do that, and do it merrily.

    Hope you enjoy the trip.
