    Tomorrow morning at 8:00 am.

Im gonna try to get that HD-DVD player, hopefully there won't be any problems.
    Toshiba HD-A2 DVD Player - $98.87
It's the one that supports 1080i not 1080p but honestly It really doesnt matter since my current hd tv set only supports 1080i.

Damn, if a sale like that doesn't make HD-DVD take off, nothing will.

I'm guessing the latter, this reeks of Toshiba dumping unsold stock onto the market at a massive loss in a desperate attempt to get some meaningful market share before the rats that arn't being paid off desert the ship. Even if they sell like hotcakes, its an unsustainable business model and the likes of Warner arn't stupid enougth to fall for it.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I was going to get the HD DVD player for my 360 because that was the cheapest one, but this is $70 cheaper.

    Deal!

Damn, I can remember back in the early vcr days when someone had a sale on a Samsung for $149.00. Was the first time we could afford one. Funny thing is it outlasted all our other more expensive vcr's down the road.

    Here comes that feelling again

I don't even have an HD TV yet, but I'm tempted for the free HD-DVD offer. . .maybe this will persuade me to stop buying toys so that I can save up to replace my small, ancient tv with some hi-def.

I would assume there will be some good HD-DVD deals on Black Friday as well. Another nail in the coffin for BluRay

I didn't realise that movies selling 2 to 1 was considered a coffin. :rolleyes2  One could also say that this is a desperate move by HD since they may be losing Warner Brothers support. A death rattle so to speak. Two ways to spin every story.

Personally, I find both systems dead because it would be much easier to go to a downloadable format either by internet or going to a store and putting it on something like a thumb drive, but that is just my speculation.

With players that cheap, its sure to raise the demand on HD movies HD already ranks higher in player sales than Blue-Ray. If Blu-Ray still ends up on top, fine, because like I said, I think they are both going to be antiquated quick.

I hate the whole downloading thing. It takes too long, it can be a pain if you lose the data, I don't want to download all the special features too. Having the physical disc is so much easier IMO. Most people are too stupid to figure out a download system. It will be a very very long time before downloading has a chance at being the main way to get movies at home.

I'd say something in response, but you guys already opened my eyes... to the fact that THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH STANDARD DVDs!

When they get shelved for good, I'll start giving a rats ass about who wins the format war...

At that price, is it just a POS ?

I know a while ago buying the cheapest DVD player available seemed to = buying something that couldn't play a single movie all the way through without skipping and freezing, etc
